Are we people of NZ, going to get the 48 inch LG CX ❓
Or are we so insignificant that LG is saying "Nah, it'll be fine!", Here's a 55 inch CX for you!
Anybody here from LG or anyone who knows anyone from LG, can answer this? My space is too small for a 55 inch TV / PC monitor.
Thanks,

I slept it over, and decided not to upgrade after all.
x90 has the specs, but x95 has the better picture. Sony have confirmed to me the x95 won't be getting the HDMI firmware upgrade as it just doesn't have the hardware capabilities to match, including 120Mhz on 4K.
So I'll be sticking my old 1080p Pany for a few months more and see if we get any more HDMI2.1 devices on the market.
Solid choice, sometimes doing nothing is the best option.
TBH it seems like Sony has really rushed their HDMI 2.1 implementations to market with the PS5 and TVs getting features by firmware update, whereas the likes of LG and MS had it properly implemented from day one. They are still great devices, but clearly need a little bit more time in the oven to enjoy their full usage.

I am certainly neither of those things, but I can only speculate that either the panel yields haven't been high enough to guarantee us supply to this part of the world, or they don't think demand is high enough to justify it.
LGD's newest plant can more efficiently process 48" panels though; after the kick-to-the-pants with COVID-19 this year, I believe they are at mass-production stage so hopefully next year we will see them on our shores?

Chapter 2 :-)
I noticed that Noel Leeming now have this on their website for order with an ETA of Dec 5th to 12th. They were selling it for $3388, but they price matched the Harvey Norman price for me.
The salesman gives me a 50/50 shot of having it in by then, but assures me it’ll definitely be before Jan. And to be honest, the HN salesman didn’t give me complete confidence his stated ETA wouldn’t blow out.
OK, that was the right call.
I got a phone call from Noel Leeming today saying my TV has arrived, and I have scheduled delivery for this Friday. 😁

IMO you would need the screen to by very large to get much benefit from an 8k screen. OLED does seem to be stagnant, and LCD seems to have improved a lot. I wonder if OLED may go the way of plasma, unless they can bring the cost down to LCD levels.
Yup, until 100" 8k TVs are at not-absurd price levels, and 8k streaming becomes more... main-stream..., it will remain a toy for the wealthy. Won't stop the manufacturers pushing it though, even though 4k content has barely achieved market saturation. Tbf, I'd totally buy an LG ZX 88" OLED if I had a spare $60k lying around. "Look dear, you even get free delivery plus install, AND an iPhone 12 Pro!".
I think OLED designs as they are will eventually go away, but not until they are replaced by superior self-emissive designs. LG Display and Samsung Display are in the process of converting all their LCD lines to OLED, as the Chinese manufacturers are pretty much taking over the low-mid range LCD panel market, so I think we will see a big push for driving down the cost and increasing market share. JOLED and BOE are both looking to enter the market, as are other local Chinese manufacturers.
LGD's WOLED panels are stalled currently, but since they are the only game in town, they hold all the cards and there is no reason to rush better designs to market; once other self-emissive solutions start to come to market (RGB inkjet printed OLEDs, QD-OLED, QNED, AMQLED, and the mythical microLED), they will probably pull some fantastical advancement out of their behinds to stay ahead.

I personally went for the X95 over the X90 because reviews showed that the picture and sound difference was noticeable when the two models were side by side. Maybe it isn't worth the upgrade, I don't know, but it isn't a huge price difference, and it is considered they top 4k tv, and were initially a lot more expensive just a few months ago. Also like the stand design of the X95 more, as it is one the edge of the screen.

Not have the faster refresh rate on 4k doesn't bother me, and would prefer picture quality over that. A bit surprising though that the higher spec unit doesn't have it, when the cheaper lower spec one does. But that is sony for you. They don't actually list this difference on their website, if you use the 'compare' button to compare the specs between the two units, which isn't good. On their website they make it appear that the X95 is better in every way, but not having this feature doesn't bother me enough to not buy it.

damn that’s a really good price. Ah well. For those who haven’t got one it’s definitely worth it.
What do people think of the Panny 55HZ1000 for $2488 at Harvey Norman, JB-Hifi and Noel Leemings? They are all selling for the same price, would any of them do any better deal to get the sale or is it basically take it or leave it?
Which company seems to provide better service when following up with Warranty and CGA related issues? Farmers were a real pain once trying to get a TV fixed under CGA many years ago for me.

$2799 at NL - Bit of a bugger given the salesperson 3 weeks ago was pretty sure it wouldn’t come down further after Xmas - a steal at that price.
