Sounds like springing for the X90J at the enormous discount I got it at was the way to go!

I wouldn't get too cut up about the reflective coatings tbh, the X90J handles reflections fine in our brightly lit room and a downwards 5 degree tilt meant it no longer caught dimmed lights at all. I can understand it for things like the Frame TVs which have to be wall-mounted flush against the wall, but for something you can tilt generally tilt away from, it's not a deal-breaker.

If the X90K is similar (and has higher native brightness) then that's an easy sell.

Prices on the 75" X95J are changing almost daily. I think the regular price is going to be $4499 from now on, but Noel Leeming and the Sony Store have it at $4396 today. The listing is in red on the NL site. so its just a limited time price. JB have also dropped their price to $2.00 more than the other two.

The 75" X90J is still $1000 cheaper than the X95J, and if that is still the price difference by Queen's Birthday sale time, then I will go for the X90J. The X90K is another option when it releases here.

Some of the 2022 LCD models are showing up on the Sony Store website.

X90K 65" $3999.95

X80K 55" $2199.95

X80K 65" $2899.95

X80K 75" $3999.95

X75K 55" $1999.95

X75K 65" $2599.95

After viewing the price of the 65" X90K, I am still looking to buy a 75" X90J or X95J. Roll on Queen's Birthday weekend sales.

I see the Sony 77" A80J which was $6093 just recently is now $5827. Thats a bloody good price. I wonder if it will go any lower over the Queens Birthday weekend? Might have to do some Jedi Mind tricks on the Missus.

I've been weighing up option for a new tv and think I've decided on an X90J as well - but looking to wait until it's at the lowest possible price. Is it likely to get much lower than a potential Queens Birthday 2022 sale?

I don't know which size that you are looking at, but, if there are still units left, I would say that it could be even cheaper after all of the new models have gone mainstream. You do, however, risk missing out on one if you wait too long.

Onto completely unrelated matters, does anyone want to buy an LG 55" LCD TV with the most amazing picture quality and deepest, darkest blacksgreys?!

Thanks but no thanks.

I have a Panasonic 65” GZ1000 OLED in my Man Cave. It’s awesome in that dark room with blackout curtains, and I would recommend an OLED in this sort of environment.

My living room environment is completely different, and I would not recommend an OLED for this room with several large windows. If I only watched at night, maybe an OLED would be okay, but the extra brightness of a good LCD really makes HDR shine, just like it should.

The specular highlights of an LCD far outweigh the deeper OLED blacks in my viewing of HDR, and I really don’t mind a  little blooming, which is not too invasive on normal viewing. Many of the You Tube demos are aimed solely at OLED TV’s, and normally accentuate the black background to show off the OLED’s.

For whatever reason, I believe that the powers that be have attempted to brainwash TV buyers.

OLED and LCD both have their strength’s and weaknesses, it all depends on your personal viewing environments.

As for Projectors; My only reason to watch movies on a projector screen, would be to get that amazing big screen experience that only Projectors can deliver. Unfortunately, the poor contrast would spoil the effect. 100” plus TV’s are now available, and maybe affordable in a few years time.

Bit like the electric vehicles v petrol vehicles argument ๐Ÿ˜‚

Just my personal thoughts. ๐Ÿค”

The thing about movies is they're designed to be watched on a big screen
There is one TV bigger than 86" on pricespy is a $17k 98" Samsung.
Are you saying that similarly priced (JVC?) projectors have poor contrast in comparison? Which models have you viewed?

I have to admit that I haven't seen any of the latest projectors in action, and they are probably much better now than they were several years ago when I was watching a movie at a friend's house on his 100+" screen.

I therefore retract my statement about poor contrast, as I haven't seen any of the newer projectors performing. Even so, I just wouldn't be able to find a room large enough for a 100" screen in my home. I can however, fit a 75" LCD TV in my living room. I have a wall perfect for it ๐Ÿ˜€

I have been reading threads online, debating whether people should buy 2022 TV's, or grab a bargain on a 2021 model.

I think (and this is my personal view) that anyone who buys a much reduced priced TV from 2021, will be getting a great TV, whilst also making a good economic decision. But, if one must buy a 2022 model, wait until Black Friday (end of November) and make sure to get a 30 day price promise just in case the TV is cheaper in the Boxing Day sales.

The newly released Sony 75" X80K is priced at $3999.95. The 2021 75" X80J is reduced to $2396.00. Is the K series really worth an extra $1603.95?. Step up to last years 75" X85J at $2792.00, and still save $1207.95 over the 75" X80K.  Step up even further to 2021's 75" X90J at $3293.00, and still save $706.95. Seems like a no brainer to me.

Another example is 2021's Panasonic LCD 75" JX900, which can be had for less than $3000 (stock is getting low). Enter 2022's Panasonic LCD 75" LX900 at $5299.00. I compared the specs of the two models, and they are exactly the same. It looks like the LX series has been rolled over from the JX series, just a change in model number.

Never has "buyer beware" been more appropriate on the Panasonic TV. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

I was pretty certain I was going to buy the Panasonic 65"JZ1000 on Queens Birthday. Been in store to view it a few times and thought it would be perfect.

However this past weekend I went back into a different store and when measuring the distance from the shelf the tv was on to what would be my seating position it was equal to the next aisle shelf. On this next shelf sat the 75"X90J. The bigger screen was so much more immersive and won me over straight away, so now I am aiming to get this or the X95J this weekend.

Let's hope there are enough of these tvs to go around!

If you only have enough space for a 75" image size a TV is definitely a good option!
I considered replacing my small TV and projector with a big TV myself but as I can fit a 96"+ size in my home I decided against that. So are you hanging on for a great deal on a 75X95J?

Cheaper JX900 vs Better X90J seems to be a well worn path!
You can also get a less good 85" Samsung for around the same price as those in 75" - just saying

Yes, X95J. I was planning on 75X95J or 75X90J, but I have decided to wait for a good price on the 75X95J.

I have changed my mind several times, but I am now certain that I want the 75X95J.

Hisense are entering the NZ market, and they produce some excellent ULED TV’s (no OLED from them), but I have decided on the Sony…..I think ๐Ÿ˜‚

No significant price drops on the Sony TV’s for the long weekend. 75X95J is $4299 and the 75X90J is $3299. The wait continues ๐Ÿคจ

Okay Guys. I went through The Market purchasing process online, and there is a 10% discount on TV's over $300. No shipping charge ($6.00) if you join The Market+ Club free for 30 days. There is a charge of $89 for large items. The code for 10% discount is JUBILEE10, which you enter at checkout.

The final total, including shipping and discount off a 75X95J is $3958.10. The 75X90J would be about $3058.10.

The discount applies to all TV's, so if you are looking for an OLED for instance. Now is the time.
