paparata: Many thanks for the feedback. We have bought a Panasonic HZ1000

Let us know your thoughts once you get it setup.

FYI (I think the HZ is the same as GZ settings) I use Professional 1 for daylight viewing and Professional 2 for Night. When available Dolby Bright for Daytime and Dolby Dark for night.

Any thoughts on the Panasonic 65" HX700? I see JBs have it over Easter for $1498. It has Dolby Vision and HDR10+. I prefer VA panels as OLED isn't in the current budget.

Smith City Dunedin has 1 65" CX in stock if anyone's looking. I think it's got $4800 on it, but he knocked it down to 4k without me even asking so wouldn't be surprised if you can get it for a bit less than that.

Any tips on finding a deal on the LG CX 55"? Smith City and others are sold out, but HN and NL seem to have a decent supply.

It looks like pricing was as low as $2799 or $2899 around Boxing Day, but this week's list price is $3899. I tried calling around to a few HN stores and the best offer I've received is $3300.

The 2021 LG OLED model is likely to appear in May/June, so perhaps it's still a bit too early to hope for a great deal?

TIA

We bought the LG CX 55' from NL a few weeks ago - the lowest they would go is $3250 using "defense discount". $2899 would be boxing day as you said

I grabbed this one. Not perfect, but the OS definitely has improved over the years. Surprised to find that I can record from the instant loading EPG. However, saddened to find out that the timeshifting feature (which we use a lot) was discontinued years ago on their TVs.

Yeah, I noticed that as well. I think not just LG's even other brands so not sure if due to shipping delays or ran out of old models in preparation for new ones.

I saw someone grab a great bargain in NL Newmarket, a 65 Pana HZ1500 display model for 2K. I would have bought it myself but already had the sold sign :(

I Have last year's GX740 65, great picture quality like amazing watching Netflix nature docs and the blacks are plenty dark enough for me watching from 4m metres away. Sound and UI not amazing but fine for me, with the Panasonic sound bar pretty cheap is good combo I might upgrade to that shortly.

Less than 4K for the 65"? Are you sure that's not USD?

Key words there commercial pricing

Even though the retail price decreases throughout the yearly cycle, the price for the retailers will be pretty close to flat.

As stated they are commercial prices but of course they are in NZD. Prices for OLED are falling. Although just ONE NZ retailer is listing the 65" C1 at $5999. I personally think NZ rrp will be $4999 or less

FWIW this is international pricing (middle is USD)

LG C1 pricing:

  • LG OLED48C1 – £1299 / $1500 / AU$TBC
  • LG OLED55C1 – £1699 / $1800 / AU$TBC
  • LG OLED65C1 – £2499 / $2500 / AU$TBC
  • LG OLED77C1 – £3999 / $3800 / AU$TBC
  • LG OLED83C1 – £TBC / $6000 / AU$TBC
