THE HUNGER GAMES: 5 Film Collection (2012 - 2023)

Release Date Australia: February 14th • Release Date NZ: TBA

The Hunger Games: Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games.

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen volunteers in her younger sister's place and must rely upon her sharp instincts when she's pitted against highly trained Tributes who have prepared their entire lives. If she's ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire: Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen and fellow tribute Peeta have returned home after surviving the Hunger Games. Winning means they must leave loved ones behind and embark on a Victory Tour through the districts. Along the way, Katniss senses a rebellion simmering--one that she and Peeta may have sparked. At the end of the tour, President Snow announces a deadly 75th Hunger Games that could change Panem forever.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1: Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived. She awakens from the cruel and haunting Quarter Quell deed inside the bunkered catacombs of District 13. Separated from some of her closest allies and fearing for their safety in the Capitol, Katniss finally agrees to be the Mockingjay, the symbolic leader of the rebellion. Still uncertain as to whom she can trust, Katniss must help 13 rise from the Shadows, all the while knowing that President Snow has focused his hatred into a personal vendetta against her--and her loved ones.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2: Katniss Everdeen, began her journey fighting to survive the brutal Hunger Games and rose to lead the rebellion against Panem's tyrannical president (Donald Sutherland). Now, Katniss and a team of rebels from District 13 prepare for the final epic battle that will decide Panem's future.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes: Follow young Coriolanus, the last hope for the once-proud Snow family, whose failing lineage has spelled a fall from grace in a postwar Capitol. With his livelihood threatened, Snow reluctantly accepts the assignment to mentor Lucy Gray Baird, a Tribute from the impoverished District 12 in the 10th Hunger Games. But after Lucy Gray's charm captivates the audience of Panem, Snow sees an opportunity to shift both their fates. With everything he has worked for hanging in the balance, Snow unites with Lucy Gray to turn the odds in their favour. Battling his instincts for both good and evil, Snow sets out on a race against time to survive and reveal whether he will ultimately become a songbird or a snake.

JBNZ have two new 4K Ultra HD titles on their website.

AQUAMAN and the LOST KINGDOM (2023) Standard Edition [$54.98] 1 x 4K Disc • Release Date: April 10th

WONKA (2023) Standard Edition [$54.98] 1 x 4K Disc • Release Date: March 27th

These prices are ridiculous. Considering that we are not getting a Blu-ray included, I would expect a price of $39.98 to $44.98 at the most. Furthermore, it doesn't look like we are getting a SteelBook release in NZ, which does include both 4K and Blu-ray discs. I could buy the SteelBooks from JBAU slightly cheaper than the NZ Standard Editions. They really are going to kill off physical media in NZ if they don't reduce these prices.

Completely agree. Just checking JB Aus,they have Preorders...Aquaman for $36.98 and Wonka for $39.98. Makes those NZ prices look ridiculous. Great way to make people buy more 4K Movies here....NOT!!!!. Also a little rant re: Itunes on my Apple TV box. If you search for a film you want to buy and its available on a streaming service...it shows you that instead of whats available via Itunes. I want to see if a higher res version ie Dolby Vision/Atmos is available instead of the sometimes HD version streaming has. Hopefully a version update will have some changes to fix this?.

Hello All,

Was in JB Botany Downs (Auckland East) during the weekend of 20/21 Jan and was surprised to see Gremlins 4k and Stand By Me 4k titles. These are not listed on their website, so potentially, there are other titles also in-store but not website listed.

Cheers!

Welcome to the Weekly NEW ZEALAND 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Release Schedule for Thursday January 25th.

Firstly, apologies. I somehow missed the release at JBNZ of The Expend4bles [$49.98]. The release was pulled from their site earlier and I hadn't noticed its return as it was in the Christmas holiday period, December 27th. I watched a You Tube reviewers Top Ten 4K Ultra HD's of 2023 and no matter what you think of the film, he placed it at #6 for its A/V experience. Things are beginning to happen at JBNZ with several upcoming titles added to the schedule this week. The same can't be said about Mighty Ape, who haven't announced any of the new releases. Not surprisingly, JBNZ appear to have dropped SteelBook releases from their 2024 catalogue. Imagine the prices they would be asking for SteelBooks, when they are burning us with expensive Standard Editions. Personally, I'm looking forward to watching Wonka and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Many more exciting releases to come this year.

Click on the post# links for the individual release information (artwork, specs, etc.) where available. Just click on the link and it should take you to the correct post. Then click on the back arrow to return to the schedule.

Individual film artwork and specs will be posted as soon as ALL info is available

Release dates are subject to change.

New Releases will be displayed for one week after release date.

Prices quoted from JB Hi-Fi New Zealand (JB) and Mighty Ape NZ (MA) are in NZ Dollars.

Yeah i think they were sourcing these ones from the UK as they had UK ratings printed on them unlike the Aussie ones we usually get and put NZ rating stickers over.
