Welcome to the Weekly NEW ZEALAND 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Release Schedule for Thursday February 01st.
Nothing scheduled until February 21st. Good news is that JBNZ haven't given up on SteelBooks altogether, with The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes SteelBook Edition having been added to to Pre-orders. Several 4K Ultra HD physical media titles have been announced for release in The States, most of which we should get Down Under. Only Disney have stopped releasing physical media in Australasia, with the other major studios opting to use Australian distributors rather than doing it themselves.

I grabbed The Abyss from Itunes at the end of last year for $7.99 i think. Awesome price and it Looks great with Dolby Vision. A definite must get on disc. Hell, all 3 above are must gets for 4K UHD Disc.
Sony 77" A80J OLED, Integra 60.7, Panasonic UB820, Toshiba HD-XE1, Apple TV 4K, JBL L100T,JBL 18Ti, JBL L20T, Velodyne HGS15
I've pre-ordered The Abyss off Amazon US, and will likely pre-order both True Lies and Aliens in the coming weeks, too. I also have The Conan Chronicles 4k collection pre-ordered, and the Criterion Collection 4k of Trainspotting due next week, along with others.
I had looked into getting the 4k of Stop Making Sense, but price is obscene. About NZ$175, nearly half of which is for postage!
James Cameron must have twisted Disney's substantial arm to get these three releases in Dolby Vision on 100gb discs.
Disney almost always use 66gb discs and 4K HDR10 video.

Whose arm do we need to break to get Revenge Of The Nerds (another Fox title) out on 4k? (and without the ridiculous edit)
40th Anniversary... expect an announcement any day now.

Aliens and True Lies should look stunning as they were pre the great CGI-rush and most of the effects were in camera,
The same holds for the Abyss,
Except that the CG Entity scene in the moon pool was always a bit ropey, esp its interface with the real water, - hopefully they re did it...
Aviatora mentioned Criterion in his post above. Here is a little information taken from their website.
The Criterion Collection is a continuing series of important classic and contemporary films on home video. Our editions often include restored film transfers along with commentary tracks and other kinds of supplemental features, which we pioneered with the release of our first laserdiscs, Citizen Kane and King Kong, in 1984. Ever since, Criterion has been working closely with filmmakers and scholars to ensure that each film is presented as its maker would want it seen and published in an edition that will deepen the viewer’s understanding and appreciation of the art of cinema.
We aim to reflect the breadth of filmed expression. We try not to be restrictive or snobby about what kinds of films are appropriate. An auteur classic, a Hollywood blockbuster, and an independent B horror film all have to be taken on their own terms. All we ask is that each film in the collection be an exemplary film of its kind. Of course, we can’t just pick movies and put them out. The process of getting the rights to release a film can take years. Even if we want a film, we can’t work on it unless the film’s owners grant us the rights to do so.
Each film release has a producer who oversees the entire process, from restoration to supplemental features to packaging. The producer researches available materials, conceives original supplements, and decides what features will truly add value to the appreciation of the film. We are fortunate enough to work with many great film directors, cinematographers, actors, scholars, and critics. We do not let market factors or an arbitrary number of supplements determine our inclusion decisions but make them on a case-by-case basis, with the aim of enhancing the viewer’s experience of a particular film.
Our discs are encoded Region 1 for DVD and Region A* for Blu-ray as our rights are limited to the United States and Canada. 4K discs are region-free. We are unable to sell outside these territories on criterion.com. We publish select Region B Blu-ray releases for the UK market that can be purchased at amazon UK and other retailers.

I wonder if a local supplier will get in Stop Making Sense, because that shipping cost is obscene.

I had a browse of the available sale titles on JBNZ website. I noticed that Expendables 4 was $39.98, but the Expendables Explosive 4-Film Collection was $49.58. For an extra $10 I would get all 4 films in 4K Ultra HD. I got a $50 Gift Card from my BNZ Rewards programme and it cost me $1.08 after shipping was added 😁
