I really want the CX in 77inch unless Panasonic ups their game and offers better specs for gamers in their 2021 models. I will wait until Boxing Day before pulling trigger for better pricing and hopefully Panasonic OLED leaks might come through by then before CES 2021 happens (if it does happen!). No doubt the Panasonic OLED have over all better PQ. My 2017 Panasonic OLED still looks stunning with 4K HDR movies or games. Shame about the lack 120Hz refresh rate and lack of HDMI 2.1 in Panasonic.

Do whatever you want to do man.

I was leaning towards Panasonic last year but wasnt ready to buy at the time. Now im going for lg cx for these reasons! I will also wait for a sale. Boxing day seems to be the best cheapest prices!

I would love a 77 cx but if price is too high id stick with the 65 inch. Seeing much love and praise for the lg oleds compared to Panasonic oleds. Just not as much love for these tvs.

I know the feeling! Unfortunately until LG.Display brings their 10.5g plant online for mass production, there is going to to be a steeper price incline above 65" panels. Add in the NZ market effect and I will be surprised if the 77" dips below 10k this year.

The 65" E9 is gone from NL website now. They've also listed the CX and suggested stock arriving late June... and price offer ending 8 July ha ha

Yeah I noticed the E9 had gone, there was only 1 in stock nationwide anyway I think. Still a fair bit of stock of the C9 across the country though. If the CX isn't due until late June then they not be that motivated to drop the price of the C9 much further.

Harvey Norman have no C9 stock now either apparently.

I wonder if they will try to push the display models to less knowledgeable buyers at a decent price? Unless anyone on GZ has bought store display model OLED with good results?

Looking online it seems like US markets's warranty (best buy etc) covers burn in, whereas not as much in NZ, or is this something that would be covered under CGA?

I'd avoid display models tbh. I have had a B6 OLED, which suffered fairly bad burn in (the lower third from a cricket test match became burnt in) but was replaced for free of charge with a new C7 panel which does not suffer from burn in to the same extent. I also have a 77C9 which has not shown any signs of burn in.

They've changed the design of the panels in later iterations so burn in less of an issue, but you can still see image persistence on occasion so I'd always recommend using a screen saver on devices like Apple TV set to about 2 mins. With some common sense settings you'll not have a problem. You just can't be sure what they've done on the display models. In my experience they don't discount them enough to make the risk worthwhile.

I think around 2017-18 is where they started implementing a lot of burn-in mitigation software, which has given a massive boost to panel longevity.

I guess the big thing to remember with display models is they have been run in demo modes which force max brightness at the cost of increased pixel wear. So if you are looking at display models, take the panel lifetime hours and probably double it to arrive at a semi-accurate figure.

Yeah it's not just software, the panels are different. I can't recall the exact changes other than I think it has something to do with the the red pixel or something like that!

My B6 had a C7 panel replacement, but the chassis with the inputs and processing was the original from the B6. They're interchangeable.

I should mention I still have the B6 with the C7 panel (I use it in another room), and it's still a spectacular TV, even though it's a number of generations old. The 77C9 is better, but honestly from a display quality point of view it's fairly incremental, motion performance is better on the C9 though. Once you've gone OLED you'll never go back to LCD, well at least imo. LG are pretty good at standing by their products too, which means a lot to me.

Had a chat with the JB rep at Sylvia park - the 65C9 is only available on display now apparently. They are also trying to clear their last FZ1000 at 3.2k

Also, he is of the opinion that the Sony OLEDs are better... and he's only ever seen LG OLEDs come back with burn in issues... and the sony is $100 cheaper! (he did disclose he had a Sony TV..) lol

Golden rule - never listen to anything a sales rep in an appliance store says! Do your own research.

Sony use LG panels, but the software can make a difference. Sony make a good product and have a good reputation within motion handling.
