LG 65 C9, $4197 on NL now.

Not exactly runout, Ive seen it as low as $3895.00 in March this year. But best of the current sellers, I wonder if there has been a lot of demand for TV's since COVID?

Given the C9's steadily going down from 10 or so listed on NL and now down to 2 in AKL I think there's demand albeit not much.

TBH I think the MY2019 TVs (C9 especially) has been getting some high regards on the US sites - retailers are now mostly pointing to the fact that the just as good last year's model is 2-3k cheaper than 2020 models!

Yeah, I decided to pull the trigger on one now, stock levels are getting pretty low and NL and HN, and the price difference between the CX and the C9 is pretty big, that could drive desmans to the C9. I suspect stock will be pretty much exhausted in the next couple of weeks.

The 65" B9 is also down to $3788 at HN (with a $150 voucher).

It is interesting to see the price gap between the current B9-C9 and BX-CX.

At current 'runout' prices the B9 is about $410 cheaper as compared to C9. The BX at $4,946 rrp seems like a steal - $1,700+ cheaper than CX!

Flag the above, HN is pricing 65" CX at $5,523 - way cheaper than the initial $6698 and it hasn't even hit the stores...

The B(n) series is a weird one here; because they are exclusive to HN, they haven't really been quite the more "affordable" buy (outside of boxing day/black friday) I was hoping for. Most of the time the B9 hovered close enough to the C9 that it made it seem like the entire purpose was to upsell.

At least the BX has 2 HDMI 2.1 ports this year, and a less questionable status about whether it could actually play 4k HFR content.

Just purchased a Panasonic 65GZ1000 and new 1500mm Cabinet for it from Harvey Norman. Went through commercial sales manager so can't state price but very happy! Should have it home tomorrow

Congrats! The GZ is a solid TV with really good PQ imo. Great buy.

Trying to push people to their 8K range for premium features is what gives. All of the 4K range has basically jumped up one model ie. Q60R ~= Q70T, Q70R ~= Q80T etcetera etcetera.

On the plus side, they all have an HDMI 2.1 port, although whether said port actually has the full 48gbps bandwidth is another question entirely.

I see the 55GZ1000 is down to $2355 now, which stacks up well against the LG and Sony equivalents. Any thoughts on whether Sony or LG are worth the extra money?

I've never been keen on Panasonic "smarts" but having just bought an Apple TV I'm now less bothered about the interface etc

This was my dilemma, going with GZ + ATV setup vs LG/Sony. The GZ pricing is very enticing, and the ATV pairing makes perfect sense as it will probably get more updates and stay relevant compared to TV OSes.

Funnily enough Panasonic offerings cost more in some other countries as compared to the LG.

Seeing both units in person, I prefer the PQ of the GZ1000 - but my wife is an android user through and through - which rules out the ATV benefits, and also prefers the WebOS platform - which is why we're set on the LG offerings (compromise to agree.. haha).

I don't think you can go wrong with the GZ1000 at all, especially if you don't need the HDMI 2.1 quirks for gaming needs, and to be fair I don't expect many games to utilise the full 4k120Hz.

Mainly a Samsung thing, due to having to compete with the other OEM's OLED TV lineups. They definitely dropped the ball not backing OLED tech, so 8K QLEDs are their only bullet to fire in the premium TV space (until QD-BOLED reaches maturity), and their marketing strategy seems to reflect that.

LG doesn't really need to compete too hard with their LCD products, since their OLED TVs occupy the premium space and they are backing OLED big time. If you are steering away from OLEDs (which you shouldn't, but I accept they don't work for everyone), I would suggest taking a look at the incoming Sony X900H later in the year, which looks to be an interesting proposition.

Thanks, that's useful. I've always been anti-Apple but some recent struggles with region-shifting persuaded me to give the ATV a go and it is a very nice gadget. It doesn't rely on having other apple tech in the house but setup is easier if you do.

I think I'll go and look at the GZ1000 in person. No intention to game on it, the kids have their own TV for that

If you are anti-apple, there is always the multitude of Android TV devices, ranging from the cheaper Xiaomi Mi boxes to the bouty, but pricey, Nvidia Shield TV. I love my Shield TV and would never bother using a TV OS unless I have to. The Shield TV is 5 years supported by Nvidia now and still going!

As roderickh said, if you don't game on it, then HDMI 2.1 means bupkiss to you, so see if you can scoop up a deal on one of the outgoing Panasonics.
