I don't cope well with Sibilence (sp). Despite enjoying music from singers with a higher pitch (Celine Dion etc) there are a lot of sounds in that range that I don't cope well. Anything that makes that worse, is off my list.

If you send me your address in a PM, I am happy for you to borrow my T1's for a few weeks if it will help you make up your mind. You can borrow my HD650's too if you like?

I have a Chord Mojo I am not using too if you want to try that :)

If anyone is interested, Massdrop are producing another run of their collaboration with Sennheiser known as the HD6XX. Essentially a custom run of the venerable HD650. Different colour, shorter (more practical) cable and different badging but otherwise identical to the 'normal version' (see here for proof/details).

Best thing? They're only US$199 + $15 delivery internationally...you can pay over $700 for HD650 in NZ - and a couple of wide boys are trying to sell Massdrop versions from earlier drops on TM for $630 right now...!

Be quick if you're interested - the drop ends 1 September I think.

I love my HD6xx. Great sound, so easy to listen to for hours and hours.

I was wincing a bit at the NZ price of 650s but at the equivalent of $300 how could I pass up the Massdrop version?

The key with the 6XX's is to hunt down longer cables if you want them for home based listening, fortunately MassDrop have these from time to time! I have a set at work and they're good for casual listening to the PC, very comfortable and appear to be well made... so they will eventually migrate home.

For those interested in my early impressions of the Momentum Wireless Headphones which were bundled with the Note 9.

Pairing is straight forward. I have been using them about an hour, playing a list of music I know well. Vocals are pretty clear but so far I feel there is a bit of lack of "impact". Some instruments sound pretty good (Guitar etc), but others sound muddy or muted (drums for example).

I think I may need to let them wear in. Out of the box they sound ok, but I would expect quite a bit better from a pair with an RRP of $799 honestly.  There is a definite lack of range, but then in some instances I can hear details I haven't heard on some songs with my other pairs.

I don't really like the controls, I find it really hard to get past the gesture controls of my Sony MX2's.

Unless they get a lot better, I won't keep them as I wouldn't use them for Noise Cancelling. I had hoped they would be good enough to be my preferred HiFi Wireless headphones.

I have the first version of the Sonys and skipped the second one, as the differences were too small to make it worth the expense. This version, I might get though.
