Hi

I'm in the process of moving house and my Panasonic TV decided today to not turn on properly. All I get is a flickering green screen similar to the old CRT vertical hold flicker. It looks like this:

It has done this before, usually only when it is switched off and then switched back on again right away...I suspected this might be some sort of heating/cooling related issue as this would sometimes occur (rarely) if it was switched on when it was very hot.

The cooling vents are vacuumed regularly and all  the fans are spinning when powered up.

It is quite an old TV (December 2006) so it may be that it's time has come...because it is so big and clumsy, it is difficult to get to a service depot and we live rurally so the cost of an in-home visit is heaps...really just want to know if it gets packed or goes to the tip...

Thanks

Simon

My guess is a failing capacitor.

You may find it fails to switch on entirely at some stage.

We had something similar occur to an older plasma, just put it on sale for trademe for $1, and someone came and collected for parts I think.
