Hi All,

Interesting problem has appeared. machine details are in sig. I had a tweak of my LNB and decided to have a go at the SBS broadcasts in prep for my new tuner (Blackgold 3595, not arrived yet). However, in MC as soon as i ask to scan either a single or full transponder scan MC instantly closes with an unexpected error and restarts. Nothing logs in Event viewer or system logs.
There is nothing else plugged into the Dish, and everything works fine aside from that - sort of.
I'm sure my tuner card is on the way out as it is occasionally very poor signal, corrupted video/audio and sometimes "missing". My HVR3000 did the same until it stopped working completely, so I guess this one is dying too. Seems unusual tho that I am unable to rescan for sat signals. I am not going to uninstall and reinstall the card at the moment cause I'll have no TV at all if/when this stops working before my BG3595 arrives!

try scanning on a different day instead?  Tongue out

seriously though, i have a 7MC with Nova-S-Plus and have had no problems, or blue screens, when adding SBS channels.  I'd suggest that you make sure that nothing is trying to record at the time you do it though just in case its a hpol vs vpol switching issue. I'm using x86 version, not x64 version however.

i have 2 of these nova cards, both nearly 3 years old and no issues whatsoever.  Have you tried a different power supply in your machine?  perhaps power to the cards is an issue?

** Update** Tried with WINTV and it also crahes when I try to scan satellites so it is a harware issue.

have tried scanning multiple times, no recording etc. Can't rescan any transponder, H or V as the moment I hit the scan now button MC crashes.

My nova cards were/are just on 5yrs old. Tried both cards in another machine with the same video/audio/dead issues, so unlikely to be my machine.

most likely the issue is a result of something in the card dying, but it seems weird I can recieve without issue but the moment I ask it to scan it crashes.

could still be a driver issue. was the other machine also x64 with the same driver version?

No, other PC was XP 32bit with nvidia GPU and AMD everything else. Polar opposite to mine. This was to check the audio/video issues, not the scan issues.
Almost nothing has changed since I did a clean install 3 months ago, with the exception of gpu drivers, so I can't see really why it would be a driver issue.
Doesn't matter, when my new tuner arrives this one will be biffed if it won't scan.
