My brothers laptop harddrive (asus k534) has just died and I was wondering if it matters what type of ssd i replace it with.

Something like http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=HDDSAM3250&name=Samsung-850-EVO-MZ-75E250BW-250GB-SSD-3D-V-NAND-SA ?

Anything I should watch out for?

I have used Crucial before and tested a few of these. They always perform well, so recommend it.
