akia: hey guys - just to let you know yes they're Huffer t-shirts (nice one @on2it). Now I've been informed that they make take a little while to come through as they haven't yet all been printed, but once they are we'll try our hardest to get some for our Geekzone Friends here for @freitasm to give away :)

will they be on sale should we miss out on the give-away (assuming there will actually be one?)

The advert is VERY slick and good (As you would expect).
The inversing of the logo for the shirts is also a VERY smart move.
An impressive start to a campaign which will no probably have some people saying "Yeah, but, My phone/internet....."
Key to changing a companies logo (especially one of Telecoms size in NZ) is the marketing and how they deliver it. McDonalds could NOT do it on a global level just because of the recognisable brandname with the golden arches, and if they done it.
I'm warming to the logo (Even using irony it still works), BUT I still think unless the marketing of this logo is correct it will fail.

There are kid actors in an ad, AND their parents knew beforehand what they were signing up for.
There are also adult actors in the ad, once again, they knew beforehand what they were signing up for.
Sorry to sound pessimistic, but it seems like it was pulled primarily because Telecom didn't want their big launch for the non geek community to be undone (Which I can sort of understand, it is a big thing re-branding a company like telecom in NZ).

Telecom still have not got the idea of USING the internet to their advantage for marketing.
I SIGH!!!!!, but I do understand.

Yes folks, got an email from Telecom confirming this was indeed an internal video and there was no permission for distribution outside the company. It appears Telecom is working t get approvals so this video might be back (or not depending on approvals of course).

As commented this is probably one of the few videos coming out of Telecom that could possibly become viral and spread a different company image.

Let's see how they go.

Sorry about the Youtube video disappearing but in our excitment to share it, permission was not sought from the people (and parents) of those in the video.

The video was never intended for public viewing and there are different rules around publishing internal promotion material in the public domain.

All of the people in the video were staff or children of staff, no paid actors were used/harmed in the making of this video.

Some of you maybe interested to know that we wil be having a series of new ads over the next few weeks and none of these will use paid actors.

Yes, I can hear the trolls grunting now about "cheap labour" blah blah blah.

Actually the pride we have in Telecom has increased so much over the last year or so that we want to tell people about it.
