freitasm: And this landed in my mailbox today to test it around town:

Will post something tomorrow.

Isn't that a standard sim? Might make testing a bit tricky...

Zoom and enhance and you will see the microsim pops out of the standard one.

The photo was taken with my Lumia 1020, so I just got the high resolution version of that photo out of the phone and cut just around the SIM:

Just to show how far you can zoom in on those phones...

Does anyone have any indication of when/if Telecom LTE will become available in Whakatane? I'm in the US at the moment and I'm trying to decide whether to pick up a cheap Nexus 5 while I'm here (US model doesn't support NZ LTE).

well got my new sim, Telecom actually delivered it themselves to my work in a rather over-sized box but can't complain about the service. Rang the 0800 number sim was up and running within 20 minutes.

Will be interesting to know how well the handover to 3G from LTE works (e.g. to receive a voice call in the middle of a LTE data session) as the LTE equipment and 3G equipment on the Telecom network is from different vendors.  (e.g. does the call setup take a long time and does it break the data session)?

Even the regular non-4G one I got back in March was like this.

My sim arrived via courier this morning. The validation via 0800 number was painless. In fact it was activated in the time it took me to insert the new sim.
However my HTC One hasn't received its firmware update. In the the paperwork that accompanied the sim, there was mention of Apple and Samsung devices, I'm hoping Telecom haven't forgotten they have flagship devices from manufacturers other than Apple and Samsung.
Unless they are going to roll it into the 4.3 update prior to 12 Nov? I'm not holding my breath.

Just don't go crazy on your speedtests folks... This is how much I used today with six tests only:
