Flashcards: Can this be right:
http://broadband.t5.co.nz/actrix.html
Plan Fixed Monthly Cost Max Down / Max Up speed Daily traffic volume
CyberJet FS 49.95 FS*/128 kbps 350 MB

I'll have to ring them tomorrow but I suspect that this site is not kept current...

What do you think is wrong with it?

The price is wrong. It's $596 according to their website, http://www.actrix.co.nz/page.php?id=194

SparX711: Can we stop speculating on what and how paying customers have used the bigtime plan.

Unless i am mistaken, Telecom marketed and took peoples money for an "unlimited data and full-line-speed" internet plan that would be "managed" so as to be fair to all users on all plans they market.

In my humble opinion, if a customer choose to sign up and use the plan at face value consuming many hundreds of gigs of data then good on them, there are as many legitimate reasons as there are potentially illegal for moving large amounts of data. Constantly blaming and flaming heavy users only clouds over the fact that telecom has failed to effectively manage a popular product and now chooses to wash their hands of it.

What can we (the paying customer) do about that ?

But as others have already pointed out - a lot of people where getting around being "managed" - that is certainly not Telecom's fault as I doubt they told people how to do so.

Oh, never mind that. I just read on their website that the introductory offer is $496, my mistake.

NZ Herald has published an article about it now. I'm not sure which ISP to go to now, deff. not staying with Telecom after they did this to us. They introduced this plan knowing it was unlimited, and people wanted to use what they paid for, its only fair. What plan do they move you to if you don't switch yourself?

I have deleted a post with a picture. I would normally leave it there, but seeing it was the user's first post and s/he registered just to post that, I banned the account.

This looks sorta dodgy and I'm sure the service would be much worse than big time was to be honest.

I really wish we had a plan in NZ that was actually value for money, I mean $50 dollars for say, 80GB is a reasonable expectation considering the content most people use the internet for, or will use the internet for in the very near future.
If we are charged so much based on the cost of international traffic, why isn't national traffic free? We have an adequate national infrastructure in most major centres. Come on New Zealand ISPs, give us some innovation, atleast telecom tried with big time and go large, and I'm crossing my fingers for an alternative to be offered before I'm forced to change.

That's suxxx....

I hope Telecom comes out with a good plan for big users........

After The Fibre to home, maybe there will be "all you can eat" again?

I am very dissapointed.

I'm going to wait for the letter. I hope one of the options offered is the Pro plan at a discounted rate.

Not holding my breath though. Telecom finally gets many of the BigTime issues smoothed out and they decide to axe it.

It pretty much ruined what was a good day for me.

I just joined the BigTime for the 2nd day. Now this. I will just go back to slingshot whenever I received the mail from telecom. I wish they don't charge me any termination fees as Telecom is the one who breaks the contract (sort of) ? Why would I pay the same price for 20GB in telecom while I can get more with other ISPs ?

That's what I'd like to know.

That's a good question, in the last couple of weeks it seemed (based on forum posts) that the average user experience was quite good on BigTime.

Because they are a company and they can.

Besides, pretty much everything we do on the internet is hosted over seas.  So it probably would effect most users.

For users who share content it could make a huge difference.  One person could download a linux iso (for example) and make it available for other NZ users over the national infrastructure.  I can imagine small groups of friends happily setting up "sharing groups" where they each download a fraction of what they otherwise would internationally and then share the content between each other.

Not to mention all the cached content stored on NZ servers.
