Currently we are sending out PACE V5542s untill we secure our residential stock for modems which should be the Technicolor TG587n

Are the Pace V5542s 2.4 and 5Ghz?

No, blame Telecom for not getting their act together in time to offer a voice over fibre product. Seriously. Chorus UFB has been available since June 2012 now. Thats 10 months. The Chorus ONT has been available to ISPs to test for much longer than that. At the very least they could have just done what other ISPs are happy doing -- use a CPE device with an ATA.
This is very much a Telecom problem.

You clearly don't understand the reasons for the delays and the changes to ONT provisioning which still aren't complete.

Are you saying no ISP can currently use the ATA on the ONT?

No. But I'm pointing out there is currently a project underway to migrate the old XML based provisioning to TR069 which makes launching a mass market offering very difficult. ONT's don't offer the same capabilities and back end systems that a NEAX does for fault diagnosis.

If that is really a TSO problem, then it is time that telecom were released from that misguided obsolete agreement, it has no place post chorus split.

If anything the TSO crap should have gone to chorus.

Also, where is it written that the analog phone service has to come into the property? Surely telecom could deliver it to the boundary and leave it to the customer to bring it to the house if they actually want it?

Well you better make it uncomplicated as I have a friend who will be getting fibered soon that has overground and is for some reason very loyal to telecom.

Complicated means multiple parties involved - Telecom can't solve on their own.

common sense is not very common

I think you would find some resistance to that.  It's a bit  like Sky saying  "We'll put the dish on your roof and the STB in your lounge but you have to connect the two up"..  people want an end to end solution..

Thanks for that. I've ordered to get Fibre installed at my place too. Got the technicolor modem already. Just hoping that they dont have to dig a trench in my property (big concrete driveway) to get fibre installed. house is 10 years old so hopefully is already has ducts. but we'll see when technicians come. fingers crossed

If they do need to trench through the driveway then they will reseal the surface to the best of their abilities. As a general rule anything built after 1987 they can usually use the existing ducting for. This is very much a generalisation though.

Just had Telecom UFB installed today. Network performance is excellent, very happy so far with the product and service.

Received a Pace v5542 router from Telecom for this install - much better than my old technicolor. Shortcoming is no user manual (only a quickstart) for the v5542. Telecom says coming soon, and Google searches proving fruitless, surely there is a user manual out there somewhere? The Pace UI is frustratingly limited.

Case in point:

Hi

I have just spent nearly 2 hours on the phone to Telecom and finally it's working again. They got me to change some settings. Previously the info was:

*************

Not sure why the settings that have worked for some time needed changing, but it's finally going again.

The change in question was from our MTA to smtp.xtra.co.nz. For some reason, the standard mail port went from open to blocked.

Very glad it was Telecom's people spending 2 hours on this, and not us, which is as it should be.

We now have to inform the client that a number of Telecom/Yahoo's mail servers are blacklisted, and as such there's a greatly increased possibility of their email disappearing into a black hole.

I know we have some internal stuff regarding it I can get tomorrow. Was there anything in particular that you wanted? Otherwise it'll just be me sharing a tonne of links haha
