Pretty sure it’s been mentioned , several times, that Vowifi won’t work until the phone is running 16.1 (beta or otherwise)

I guess it's going to be drip-feed for the next few months.  I thought that the Samsung S21 and S22 and the A52, 52s  would have been up there.

Has anyone got it working on Skinny. On iOS 16.0.2 I get disable aeroplane mode or connect to wifi network when trying to make phone call.

The phone is connected to wifi, and wifi calling is set to on under mobile.

Sorry, I was focused on the .2 at the end. Now realise beta is a later version.

Maybe they're starting with less popular phones on purpose? Hopefully the October update will include the later S series phones.

I've had this switched on for a couple of days on iOS 16.1

Noticed a couple of issues (yes, yes...on a beta....)

- keypad tones sent through to a menu didn't seem to register. once i switched off wifi they did

- had a bad handoff from 4G to wifi. Caller and I couldn't hear each other, again resolved as soon as I turned off wifi

Is this normal VoWifi behaviour?

For Spark folks on this thread, happy to feedback more formally if this is unexpected

From our testing we haven't seen any specific issues with DTMF and most popular services that make use of it - happy for you to DM me some examples. Handovers do work (in both directions) on our network, but rely on reasonable coverage during the boundary of the networks (i.e. if there is no cellular coverage at the edge of your wifi coverage call handover will fail). Was this failure a one off or is it reproducible ?

Just had another drop out with a handover from Wi-Fi to 3G

Same location as before as going out of home wifi into cellular.

Happy to debug if helpful. It’s not a great end user experience but accept this isn’t officially out

@alsta WiFi calling should be passing over VoLTE not 3G

Oh?

If that’s so, it’s slightly sub-optimal, ie it’s likely you have poor service to want to use wifi and it will drop calls of you leave home while talking?

This is one reason why one is dropping 3g, and my guess spark will soon to once they have more then 3 phone type that can do vowifi / volte

With VoLTE and VoWIFI, the voice channel is fully packet based while WCDMA (3G) is circuit based.
The only handover that exists is VoLTE -> 3G. It’s a one way trip once that occurs eg. It won’t hand up to 4G.

You can however go back and forth from VoLTE (4G and 5G) and VoWifi with no problems.

Hate double posting but the lack of handover of VoWIFI to 3G is not a Spark thing. All the providers have similar limitations.
