This doesn't help that my dad is going to buy a XT phone tomorrow. I just won't tell him about it.

Just tell him it has a Do Not Disturb feature where occasionally he won't be disturbed by his phone ringing... only thing is he can't choose when! Laughing

Im in blenheim at the moment and my phones shows No service. and then the signal will come back and when i go to make a phone call it will not connected my phone displays "error in connection" when i go to send a text message it displays "failed".

Isn't this network ment to be faster in more places?? how can it be faster when at times there is No network coverage at all or voice calls wont go though same with text messages and other data services.

Did AC/DC just fly in and lot's of fans start posting videos online via XT handsets on the one cellsite?

Or is there another big event taking place south of Taupo?

I think i have a right as a telecom xt mobile customer to be upset. we pay telecom for there products and services. we pay a lot of money for it to! and all im asking for is the service that telecom says it can provide us. its not like this problem hasn't happened before and might i add its 1:10pm and im still getting connection errors

Just got this in:

Dear Simon

Today we experienced issues with our Christchurch XT Mobile RNC switch which has resulted in the degradation of the XT Mobile Network from Taupo south between approximately 10.30am and 12pm.

Users of the XT service from Taupo south will have experienced approximately one hour of degraded mobile service, and approximately 30 minutes of inability to use the XT service in the area.

Since 12pm we begun restoring the XT service, and full service will resume for all clients from Taupo southwards by 1.30pm.

XT services north of Taupo, and CDMA services nationwide, were not affected.

We are establishing the root cause of the degradation of the network.

We continue to understand that mobile is critical for your business, and we apologise and deeply regret any inconvenience or problems you are experiencing due to the interruption of the XT service.

We are aware that this is not the first time that we have experienced service degradation. Please accept my personal assurance that this issue was unexpected and was immediately escalated to the Telecom Executive team and our global partner.

I will communicate with you further with relevant information as it is available, and confirm that full restoration is continuing.

If you wish to discuss this further with me, or any of the Gen-i team, please let us know.

Chris Quin

CEO Gen-i Australasia

Network still unobtainable here in Invercargill! Telecom spoke too soon by telling Stuff.co.nz that the issues were resolved at 1pm.

This is the same mistake they made last time- setting expectations they can't meet.

As I'm always helpful, could I just suggest the whole country move north of Taupo?  We have much better weather up here...
