@robjg63

Speedtest conducted with dedicated laptop connected to router directly. ;-)

 What speeds do you get direct from the ONT to the Auckland Spark server?

Have plugged the Archer c7 back in. Will see how it goes.
Fingers x'd.

Before I saw this thread I was starting down that very long road of trying to target where the problem lay - assuming it was most likely my issue.

No wonder I love Geekzone and it's great community.

@lorenceo

Have not tested using PPPoE connection directly through ONT. That would have everyone screaming at home today with no Wifi. :-(

I'm sure you'll be fine tonight. BigPipe sent me a message at 1:30 pm today to confirm issue at their end with reminder to connect to BigPipe using PPPoE and with IPv6 disabled. They mentioned disabling DHCP client connection. I reckon that is if someone is connecting to BigPipe using Dynamic IP.

If issue still remains after the above, contact them again by replying to their email.

It will rule out there being an issue with your router (but not your computer itself). :)

Bigpipe give out their IP addresses over PPP, regardless of which type of IP address you're assigned.

Just an update. I've been connected since my last post without any problems. Speedtests are almost max, about 80/16 so 80%ish - Just fine for me.

I am having this same problem over the last few weeks, although with Spark, I believe Big pipes parent. So not sure if related.

Nope, Bigpipe and Spark have separate networks.

Mine has stopped twice today. Rebooting my router (Netgear D7000) brings it back, but it is the first (two) times I have had to do it since getting UFB at the start of April.

Bigpipe UFB.

Netgear D7000.

However,

I don't know (think) it is actually UFB/Bigpipe related. My router upgraded firmware today (and this has happened since then). I also put the DNS addresses for Unblocker straight into router, and blocked other external DNS addresses. I have reversed that just now, and will see if it changes. (so, now, I have Bigpipe DNS in Router, and no blocking).

Could also have been the Firmware upgrade. The issue was that I could no longer ping/login to router. Lights on router suggested that Internet was actually fine. If I tried to connect to the WiFi network, it would ask for the WPA password, but would not join. Suggests Router issue. Wonder if I can roll back Firmware...

Sounds like the lightbulbs were going on as you typed this. If you couldnt log on to the router that sounds like an issue with the router.

Perhaps try a reset of the router then set up your settings on top of the new firmware - guess plan B would be to try and get the previous version of the firmware.

I believe there is some issue with Bigpipe UFB today (around 3:30 PM). I was dropped out twice and modem (NetComm - NF4V) reboot fixed the issue temporarily.

Eventually the connectivity issue seems to be sorted. I could see 200/20 Mbps speed now.

I am with Bigpipe for more than a year now and never had any issues. But it was frustrating to see N/W errors on a Sunday afternoon when Netflix'ing.

the issues yesterday were because of a DDoS attack on one of our customers.

Yep. Getting rid of DNS settings and DNS server static routes seemed to have fixed it. It was fine all Saturday Night, then we were watching Netflix through to about 2pm Sunday. Went out for a couple of hours, and when I got back, noticed that my phone wasn't connected. and neither was wife's phone. This would have been about 4pm. Router reboot fixed. Went fine all night AFAIK and was working fine this morning. DDoS attack as mentioned above maybe?

I'm still waiting for BigPipe to resolve their hardware issue. Though there is no disconnection in the last 4 days since Friday, my speed is still far from 100/20 Mbps.

Speedtest.net test to Spark Auckland still averages 40/18. From Spark Wellington, it's less than 20/20.

I like to see my speed near this again - https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4850040465
