Paul has already told us that once the Court hears all the "evidence", the public will too. I remain skeptical that there is any solid evidence that the problems are caused by Telecom interference specifically, but until we know all the details it's hard to make that sort of call.

Telecom is a big company and sure, they have had their fair share of ups and downs over their broadband business. Look at them now, most customers are happy with their broadband service. And what's even better is that you can get through to their call centre fairly promptly AND not have to pay for service! Oh, did I mention, you also speak to someone local? I believe Telecom will look after their customers are a lot better than Vodafone (if they don't, they haven't done their homework).

"Sorry, it is past 6pm, we can no longer go into your account details until tomorrow morning" days are nearly over.

Not to mention that a lot of Telecom (at least 40%) is owned by Mum and dad shareholders, who have been hurting since the last government changed the goalposts, and interferred with a private / publically listed company. It is difficult to know exactly how many mum and dad shareholders have telecom shares, as many are purchased through Australian fund managers for their NZ clients.

Telecom shareholders need some good news, and this network looks to be superior to the competition, so we should support it. At least buying from telecom means that a lot of the money we spend, will be recirculated throughout the economy, unlike with offshore owned companies, who ship the profit offshore. We should support NZ companies in these uncertain economic times.

For all the avenues I see for Vodafone, if they lose, it's going to be part of a media frenzy.

If they win, then it would be a mild reception though as Mauricio said, the Ministry of Economic Development should have been able to resolve this matter, and people would be questioning it (as we are now...)

If they pull out, that'll be even worse than losing... unless they can drop the case if the Ministry steps in before it's too late.

Looks like Vodafone is stuck where it is right now...

Now it is in the public realm, the facts should be forthcoming, otherwise people will be making opinions without the facts. If you don't have all the facts, how can you form an opinion, apart from what it 'appears' to be.

Court proceedings are open to the public. You're welcome to go and hear the facts as they are presented to the Court.

My understanding is the facts have not yet been presented to the Court, Vodafone have simply issued a statement saying they are commencing proceedings.

The amount of times I've been burnt by Vodafone over the past year - from signing me up to the "Red" network and being incapable of supplying service or even a phoneline, from double billing and spending huge effort requesting my money back, from helping someone who bought a prepay sim recently which has zero credit when it advertises $5 and being given no way to call anyone at Vodafone to investigate without topping up (which wasn't working) and paying $1 (impossible with no credit) to ask for help.

Not to mention all the issues with the iphone and their "3G" coverage, missed calls, dropped calls, delayed text messages - oh I guess that ones now Telecom's fault? Sorry Vodafone. I don't buy it.

The thing is, the media just reporting that Vodafone is going to court over interference by Telecom's new XT netowrk is the type of coverage that tricks the average joe into thinking something is inherently wrong with Telecom's network. Chances are - if anything is wrong at all - it probably could have been fixed by talking to Telecom.

XT has been live for months and yet yery conveniently the evidence is being heard 12 days before launch. We've already heard in this thread that there are other channels available for dealing with interference issues so really an injunction? This is such a pathetically anti-competitive play on so many levels.

Was it the Supa Prepay Value Pack? They no longer come with $5 credit, and the Value pack is the only available SIM for retail sale now.

I have just watched the 3 news story, and it mentioned it took a week for a text message to arrive. Surely that sort of delay wouldn't be caused by 'interference'. There are 'standards' that each player must meet, and there is a government department that handles and monitors these to make sure both players are 'playing' fair. So what aren't they complaining directly to them to sort of the problem.

I agree, I think it is just there to misinform or scare the average person who watches the 6 o'clock news and put a negative spin on Telecom's new offering.

All I know is that it had packaging stating $5 credit would be given, no credit was available. If their packaging says it comes with xyz, they should honor that.
