From Twitter:

TelecomNZ
We had peformance issues with a small number of XT sites. This seems to be easing.

Well i suppose outta the amount of sites they have country wide it could be a small number still another xt fail not a good start after their marketing campaign was based about it working pretty much everywhere (however they didn't say everywhere all the time hehe).

I've had no problems here in Whakatane on account. Received 4 calls, placed one, and used tethering for an hour or so.

Firstly: There is not a thread of truth in anything I have read here so far. All speculation has been wrong.

Truth: We have had performance issues on a small number of sites with intermittant Txt and voice call failures. These problems seem to have eased.

See truth below

raytaylor: Hmmm. Interesting.
I am trying to test call someone over in hastings and it goes straight to voicemail. Called him on the landline from my landline and he says he didnt get anything on the cellphone, and also his txts arent getting through to me on my older cdma.

I dont think a few cell sites being down could create this much of a facebook comment frenzy

So when will it be completely fixed? And what went wrong?
My phone has had problems since around 4pm, and completely unable to send/receive texts and calls since about 6.30 - 7pm and still not able to send or receive.

Thanks Telecom for the $10 compensation after the last outage, but what compensation will those affected from this get? - Nothing I suppose?

Oops, I think we spoke too soon. Unable to make/receive calls or send/receive texts.

Mine started working and is now broken again.

Edit -grammar fix

Also I think there is an issue when http://twitter.com/#search?q=telecom%20xt has a whole heap of people complaining about their XT phones.
