Awesome! Will give this a try! Hopefully all goes well.

Just to update on vdsl. Chorus sched to switch me back on vdsl on 7th Jan. Will advise again stats.

Btw got my first bill and something not right. For some reason they charged me 1 week earlier prior the telecom dsl install. Not to mention about the issues I got with my dsl line and they charged me full of it. Will have a chat with helpdesk and sort this out.

Its almost there and hopefully all will be sorted.
Thanks for the information guys. Will update soon.

Actually I take that back.  It's better but still getting same symptoms as you.

yeah, tried that but didn't help... Im still suffering with buffering on both PS3 and ATV2.. note that I get 9Mb down from US.. oh and btw, my downstream now is 18Mb from technicolour..

I even tried another modem (my old adsl modem) but still same issue.. buffering on netflix...
btw, I got no issues on Hulu - it's just netflix...

so looks like telecom is no good with netflix...

I'll wait for vdsl to kick in and see how it goes.. otherwise, I will get back with Slingshot.

My VDSL syncs at 40Mb down and I can't stream via Telecom either.  Well I can but it's very hit and miss, more miss than hit.  I'll try putting my modem into full bridge and see if that helps.

That Netflix issue just sounds like you haven't got your VPN or DNS service working correctly to access the US. Chromecast shows the buffering image when it knows it isn't in the correct region so I am guessign your devices are doing the same.

Have you got Unblock-US or Unotelly set up?

that doesn't seem right as I can watch super HD previously on slingshot with same technicolour modem/router (I've used telecom technicolour device as I received this earlier than expected so hook it up)...

also I can switch region without issue and could see the right content on all devices.
to me it looks like the peering between telecom and netflix...

got my vdsl installed today with stat of 22/3 (down/up). Im not surprised with this stats but with at least improvement.

unfortunately my netflix buffering is still happening and sad to say that I will move to another provider.
Wife is really keen to move and pay for termination... but luckily I signed up with BigPipe for trial and it is free for 3 months.. so basically the termination fee will be offset by new provider...

This concludes me that telecom is shaping traffic to PSN (Sony)..
I hope BigPipe is not like that.. but yeah, getting positive feedback with BigPipe.

Hopefully netflix is better with BigPipe - last resort will be to switch back to Slingshot..

Probably not the solution you want but I switched to an Apple TV3 and now Netflix works perfectly on Telecom where it would buffer like crazy on Roku 3 and PS4.

yeah, got no issue on tav (using atv2) but the video quality on ps3 (or ps4) is way way better...
not sure why Telecom would shape PSN?

We don't shape any of our connections.

I'm unsure... It could be to do with the routing it takes when it runs through PSN but I don't have the knowledge of PSN to comment

Hi,

Not sure what the issue is with Telecom and PSN, it's definitely not shaping as others have said.

I had the same problems as you did with Telecom (VDSL).  I found that streaming to my laptop, desktop, iPad, or ATV3 was fine,  but streaming to my PS3 and WDLive was poor and constantly buffering  (it always stopped at 25% for some strange reason!)

Happy to report that now I am on BigPipe VDSL I have been streaming stuff via my PS3 (and PS4)  in Super HD with no issues.
We have reports of other customers doing the same, and I am yet to hear of anybody having issues with streaming on BigPipe.
Definitely keen to hear how your experience goes when you switch to us.

cheers

So Big Pipe is significantly better than standard Telecom VDSL?

Hi BigPipe! it is exactly the same issue as mine that stops at 25% when watching on netflix ps3.
and wow! that's a relief and good feedback!!! I can't wait to get my new connection!

as mentioned on this trail, I don't have this issues when I was on Slingshot (ADSL) and could even watch 3D movies on netflix. but this is good news for me that BigPipe is working great!!!!
