been on hold now since 6AM and its now 6:45am, so hopefully thats all of you complaining so we can sort this crap out. I REFUSE TO PAY 60.00 PER MONTH FOR DIALUP!!!!

yeah speeds are bad its like im useing 256kbps dialup and paying $60 RIP OFF

The buggers JUST rang me back now and apparently this problem has been active since the 7th of this month. Thats almost two weeks and they haven't fixed it yet??!!!

I'm on 56K dialup speeds and paying 60 bloody dollars a month for the thing!!! I am totally being shafted up the backside by Telecom, and I'm almost sick of it. I told them I want some form of rebate, but they said they can't issue one until the problem has been "resolved".

So, rest assured everyone on Big Time, we're all now on Dialup, but we'll be getting some money out of it at the end of all this crap hopefully, and Telecom will more than likley be going to court ONCE AGAIN.

^^ I wish that were true . For me it's only p2p sharing that is an issue . I would say this is a permanent speed to look forward too for dl's . Unless we can find a way around this throttle . Keep us updated Mortiis as i am having this problem as well but it only started happening in the last day so i don't think it's been around since the 7th. Either way, the fact i can download at full speed from the Microsoft website leads me to believe it's deliberate throttling than an equipment failure. I used to always get speeds of around 500Kb/s to 1Mb/s and now i'm topping out at around 100Kb/s even using Internet Download Manager.

This sucks

this is sad - I do hope that this is an 'outage' as Xtra Help Desk and level 2 Technicians told me. I have been trying to get ahold of the useless people there all day, but haven't had much luck. The helpdesk is run from the bloody philipines, hardly anyone can speak English in a proper manner, and because its located in the Philipines, they're not fully aware of the extent of the "outage".

If this is delibrate throttling, Telecom are in for an extremely herfty lawsuit....

In all honesty I think you have pretty unrealistic expectations.

For $60 you are getting as much data as you can use (probably many hundreds of GB) but the trade-off is that the speed to some of that data is managed, especially in regards to File sharing which is what you are complaining about.

Alternatively you could be spending $60 and only getting 20GB, but no speeds would be artificially reduced.

You seem to want unlimited data and no restrictions on speed, that kind of service isn't available in NZ and for very good reasons.

it IS deliberate throttling, as stated many times all over the interwebs its a 24/7 throttled plan. The reason why microsoft and a few other websites have full speed is because they host there files on Akamai servers and telecom doesn't trottle Akamai.

They have gone overboard with there shaping rules however, its a big joke. The plan must be using a lot more bandwidth than they thought, as these draconian shaping rules weren't in effect a few weeks ago.

You can expect to talk to the phillipines more as well as they are moving more of there helpdesk there too (also believe i read that level 2 helpdesk was going there as well, but could be wrong, will have to check on that)

But what were talking about here is a sudden and unexpected 10x reduction in speed right across the board. This kind of throttling is not acceptable, even if people know they are on a plan where speeds might be slower during busy times.

lolx... I doesn't care much for the speed
as long they don't raise the price $$$.. it will be fine
even so many people complain.. why nobody sue Telecom since big time is all you can eat package..
and now they throttled 24/7.. u sure win in the court..

Downloading files via HTTP is quite blatently file sharing, Rapidshare, megaupload etc. are all file sharing sites, to try and claim otherwise would be a little silly to say the least.

If you are complaining that general HTTP webpages are being throttled then thats a valid complaint, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
