grolschie: How do you opt out from their cache?

Force your browser to use your own proxy or use a VPN connection or get a static IP from Telecom and ask them to route you off from their proxy.

Would using different DNS servers help? eg. google DNS?

I'm getting fed up with pages not loading also.

I don't know if I'd want my data going through just some random proxy belonging to goodness-knows-who. But thanks anyway. :-)

Changing to google DNS from Telecom DNS seems to have fixed things up for me.

Google dns.

8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

I tried these settings but it was much worse - very slow and pages barely loaded (lots of missing images etc.). Tor was a better alternative for me.

Well, I've seen connection resets to wikipedia amongst others today and uk sites are slow (although they load). Seems to be worse at the weekend. Maybe the proxy for central auckland central just can't cope with peak time traffic? Facebook images also failing.

I take it back abou changing DNS. My connection has gone to sh*t again.

I emailed Telecom about the problem and pointed them to this thread. No reply as yet.

wikipedia is so so slow. facebook images are not loading again. I signed up to telecom broadband before they implemented a proxy cache so contractually did they have the right to add me into the proxy cache after i signed up?

Its bad tonight. I tried the helpdesk but they have no idea what im talking about got put through to advanced but they wont help as the pages will eventually load(after numerous refreshes). Its a major pain in the ass.
