I put my new note 3 iemi in and it says its not 4g capable.

I didnt realise I would need a specific sim card or I wouldnt have bought the sim for a dollar last week to port over my last 2 degrees number to. Will I be able to swap over in store? Dont really want to have to deal with the hassle of courier deliveries etc.

Yes you'll be able to get a 4G SIM and have 4G enabled on your line in Store.

I don't know the specifics, but I do know that Telecom is working on it and hopes to have it compatible with existing SIMs by about the middle of next year.

Existing SIMs were specialized for 3G to get the best out of them. There was no point in having a SIM accessing 4G until it was ready

This is correct. The existing HLR doesn't support 4G. We have a new HLR that supports 4G and the 4G SIMs are specific to this, as behodar mentioned sometime next year all SIMs will be transferred to the new HLR and then you won't need a new SIM card. Naturally most people don't need (or care about) this information so 4G Sims are optimized for 4G is the answer you will usually get. Had to get some clarification on that one :P

A sim is just a billing id number / device ID number.

Not sure what you're getting at. The 4g functionality is in the phone, not the sim.

Good laugh though .
