michaelmurfy: Yeah I understand, but 3G 2100MHz is in 70% of the main centers anyway, and it's always being improved. I think part of the fail is that the iPhone doesn't support 900MHz HSDPA..
Here in Nelson (Must be because of all the hills) we always have customers from XT porting back from it to Vodafone because of Coverage Issues, it seems here XT is everywhere except on your front lawn. In the time that this Telecom Deal has been running, I have had personally 3 customers porting their iPhones back mostly due to coverage, but it seems here in Nelson speed is a issue too with XT.
munchkin: @ michaelmurfy: If Vodafone's 2100MHz 3G coverage was widespread and reliable enough, people wouldn't be dropped back to 2G now, would they..

Being that you work for Vodafone I don't think many people will take your opinion on XT very seriously.

cokemaster: I suggest you read this regarding the "2G fallback" myth.

michaelmurfy: Vodafone have always been ahead, since 2005 they have had 3G - Since the birth (from Bellsouth) they have had Sim Cards, Telecom have only just caught up.
Wait a minute, isn't this the 2nd time in the last 10 years Telecom have made their customers switch phones because of a "Network Upgrade"?
1st Time) Amps was shut down (Their old analogue network) in favor for CDMA in 2002?
2nd Time) CDMA being shut down end of 2011, wow great! They are forcing users to change again.
I am glad to be with a established network. Telecom _only_ have 850MHz UTMS and CDMA, while Vodafone has both 2G & 3G UTMS, if 3G fails on Telecom's network, it's not like they can roll back to 2G or CDMA right?
Switching your iPhone to XT is Fail. Nuff said. Just watch Vodafone's site and they might have another offer for you guys ;)

This would depend on the RF performance of the handset as well as the network

While I realise that handset design and manufacture has a lot to account for, on several handsets I can't get a reliable signal - let alone a connection - at my house. I can see the tower from my kitchen.
