This new batch is already with the folk. My main contact is about to go on holiday.

we have got the correct people looking after these though :)

Anything logged through the helpdesk will land in their lap.

I've gotta confirm what it is, but pretty sure there is an inbox for spam mails..

yes. Dragging into the bin also does this apparently.

My cousin is getting 2 to 3 of these per day for last weeks but they are automatically going into her spam folder 🎓

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

mine too, but surely a spam filter should pick them up before getting into the persons emails

The spam folder is the "probable spam", waiting for a human (you) to confirm it; the "definite spam" is filtered out completely.  These messages are deliberately constructed to be hard for automated systems to identify :(

Making value judgements (e.g. "is this spam?") is notoriously difficult for AI to do accurately, the Xtra filters are actually catching a huge amount that you don't see and only a small fraction are getting through.

Xtra mail also bounces most of my emails from gmail/hotmail so that I now don't bother responding to email from xtra addresses - mainly elderly relatives.

There is a TON that is filtered well before your spambox even.

maybe so but didnt SMX claim a 99.999% rate for filtering spam?

im getting about a 1-2% spam rate at present.

And where is the email address at spark for us to send spam to? SMX dont want to have a bar of it.

I'm not going to argue numbers, nor do i think i can share graphs to quantify it.

but there is a large volume that doesnt make it.

the mail im getting is not a scam, its spam, there is a difference maybe the page needs to be updated for both spam and scams

you can try quantify it but if i get 100 legitimate emails a day going off SMX's previous claims of 99.999% (or was it 99.9999?) then SMX must be filtering a hell of a lot of emails for me be getting 1 or 2 emails a day

obviously the emails are not getting picked up by the spam filter so maybe make an option for FWD the mail through so spark can better react and deal with the spam messages

They will be counting direct connections from compromised computers in the blocked amount, those can be 1000s per minuite at times to just a single small mail server, and dont get past establishing the TCP connection because of the blocklists, usually not even logged beyond aggregate totals of them.

Then there are ones that will fail SPF and domainkeys checks, again, barely worth logging those even. But still count them to get the impressive sounding stat for blocked mails.

If 99.9% of all spam is filtered out, that doesn't mean that the spam that makes it through is going to be no more than 0.1% of your mailbox.  If you get sent 10,000 spams and 100 legitimate emails, then it would mean you actually see 100 legitimate and 10 spam.  Unfortunately you can't see how much unwanted crp is filtered out before it reaches you.  And, of course, blocking an inbound connection from a spammer counts just as much as filtering a received mail by content. At the last place I worked, stats showed that approx. 98.5% of all the mail on the internet is spam, I don't know if this figure has changed in the last 5 years.

I need to find you guys some examples if my now disabled cache allows. It's all good trying to defend ai and figures based on what you are expect in real world.

But when multiple accounts get multiple messages from the same source IP/servers. And same non SPF validated domain. With the same similarities to link within and survey type subject.

That's at least 4 cross checks failing.
More so when it's on uncompromised recipients addresses.

Not exactly the same as real world? if you have a Gmail forward attached to one, and Gmail bins the server to server read notification for the same spam.

I'd say you need to have realistic expectations . 1 or 2 a day is nothing.

Its unrealistic to expect near zero spam.

If you want zero spam, get rid of your compromised @xtra email adress , because the spammers have it on their list of valid email that were stolen from yahoo years back.

Your email is on lists that spammers send to. Want zero spam then you need to do something about that.
