I've asked @TelecomNZ on twitter a couple of times, but no response. Does anyone know when Telecom will be launching HD voice? I feel a bit left out now that 2degrees and Vodafone have it.

I spend alot of time with my phone hooked up to the bluetooth while I am driving, and boy is it awesome. The clarity is just so much easier to hear and speak over road noise when i am in the car.

My point: I wish to convey sympathy towards you telecom customers.

I would imagine they would be working on it, then once launched comes the question of HD Voice working between all 3 main carriers

I didn't think HD voice works via Bluetooth tho (The audio channels of the BT device aren't wideband)

Hmmm, good to know it's possible! But seems like pretty new tech, so would be surprised if it's available in any cars already.

In my car, the built in Bluetooth sounds pretty good in the car, but the audio quality going back out to the person on the other end of the phone is pretty bad

I'm on here now and can't be bothered Googling, but what's the frequency response of HD voice? 15Khz or so?

I will ask around but I know there are quite a few higher priorities on the boil right now.

If I can say anything I will..

Maybe they are waiting to launch it on 4G using VoLTE helped with their nice new chunk of 4G spectrum they just acquired :)

Ultimately though, would be great to see one day full IP inter-connects supporting HD-Voice between mobile carriers and fixedline (VoIP)!

7Khz

It's actually the AMR-WB codec if you want to Google it.
