Hi Team,

Can anyone confirm that Telecom are currently having some sort of meltdown including a DNS outage?  I can't connect to client systems using DNS because DNS lookups for domains on their system are failing (from multiple ISPs I have access to).

Also I can't access their network status page.

Cheers
Mike

I would say some kind of issue is going on.   Only way the internet works 100% (at this current time) for me, is to use VPN.

All sites we host that use alien.xtra.co.nz / terminator Name servers started going offline at 7:45am and pinging them has no response.

Yeah seem the telecom site itself is having issues as well.  Quite often can't get to the home page, and can't login to mytelecom.

To be fair, it started last night (the mytelecom bit anyway)

Skinny website is also down. I assume there is some kind of shared platform thing happening here.

Here is a Telecom update issued just now:

Telecom adivses that many of its communication systems are down this morning due to a technical issue. The problem is affecting call centres, online services, and internal Telecom networks. Some corporate clients are also affected by this issue. There is a workaround for those clients, which is being published by Telecom.

All other Telecom customers can still call, text and use data, and 111 servcies are not affected .

Our technicians are working as quickly as possible to resolve the problem, but at this point there is no estimated time of recover at this stavge.

Please note this problem is unrelated to a Telecom systems' upgrade, which took place over the weekend.

We apologise customers who have been affected by this problem and we will provide an update as soon as possible.

I have confirmation from Telecom this is not related to the planned work going on during last weekend. It seems is a network issue in Mayoral Drive.

I've changed our site to use 8.8.8.8 (google) for DNS as a workaround and we are back up and running.

We were using 202.27.158.40 and 202.27.156.72

We are having an issue with our communications systems - not related to our upgrade work - and it's affected services, as you've been noting here. We're really sorry about this, but we're tackling it as hard as we can.

For corporate broadband customers having DNS issues, we're pointing to the following as workarounds:

122.56.237.1 - ns1.xtra.co.nz
210.55.111.1 - ns2.xtra.co.nz

Sorry, guys. We're throwing everything we can at this to get the engine going smoothly.

It started at 6:50am this morning. The MyTelecom outage is part of the planned outage.

If you are using Alien or Terminator as per the above posts, it does seem that their connectivity is down. Please use the PPP assigned DNS servers.
