Can anyone who are with Spark and on the 200/20 VoIP Unlimited plan tell me if the below installation and speeds are how they should be?

Chorus used a TP-Link splitter to have my Integrated phone wiring to work. I was hoping they would install another white box beside the ONT and back feed to the ENT at the external of house?

Secondly, I have moved from 100/50 plan to 200/20 plan. The upload speed has dropped from 50 to 20 but the download speed has not gone more than 100Mb/s to 200Mb/s ?
I am using the Spark supplied Gigabit modem with Wired Gigabit connection on a desktop PC.

Is OOkla Speedtest the right way to determine the speeds?

If you are posting regarding DSL speeds please check that

- you have reset your modem and router

- your PC (or other PCs in your LAN) is not downloading large files when you are testing

- you are not being throttled by your ISP due to going over the monthly cap

- your tests are always done on an ethernet connection to the router - do not use wireless for testing

- you read this topic and follow the instructions there.

Make sure you provide information for other users to help you. If you have not already done it, please EDIT your post and add this now:

- Your ISP and plan

- Type of connection (ADSL, ADSL2, VDSL)

- Your modem DSL stats (do not worry about posting Speedtest, we need sync rate, attenuation and noise margin)

- Your general location (or street)

- If you are rural or urban

- If you know your connection is to an exchange, cabinet or conklin

- If your connection is to a ULL or wholesale service

- If you have done an isolation test as per the link above

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

Some here say that Ookla isn;t the most reliable, but on my fibre connection it was pretty consistent.
My 30/10 was well, 30/10
The 200/20 was I recall about 205/22.5 (NB we run slightly higher speeds to cater for overhead) This was after my 30/10 period.
I am on 100/20, its 109/22.5

Unlimited makes no difference, its using the same IP pool as everyone else. No traffic management. Back in the day the unlimited trial plans were in a seperate pool, with traffic management.

Are you on wifi? I am although the laptop and router are 5GHz AC. If your on slower wifi that is a limiting factor, as is if your PC is 100Mbit LAN if your on ethernet

I am not on WiFi, I have connected my Desktop using Ethernet. The download speed is always consistent to 100Mb/s or less but not more.

I have disconnected all devices and tried.

The only other I can think of is the distance between my computer and the modem. It is about 10 metrs. Does that drop your speed from 200 to 100?
I have asked a friend to get his laptop so I can connect directly and test and will post results.

As was previously asked, what is the speed of the network port on the PC, and the router.

Distance to the PC will not affect it.

That looks like your Ethernet is connecting at 100mbit - have you confirmed nothing between your PC / Router is running at 100?

I can see your router to ONT is at-least 1gbit.

Just one thing to check is the cable your using from ONT to router and router to PC. Make sure it's fully populated 8 wire cables some of the cables from previous modem/routers are are only populated with 4 wires which is fine for upto 100 Mb/s these are usually white with yellow connectors but not always

Network port on my PC is a Gigabit port.

Modem is supplied by Spark - Model HG659b which has Gigabit port.

The connection shows LAN connected with 1Gbps

I ask if OOkla is true test because it only has a max of 100Mbps speed on the download ?

Ok, Got a laptop with Gigabit LAN and tested directly from Modem (No switch / long wires between) and shows 100Mbps download speed max - with 20 up.

I think the above is a true test. I have disconnected all the rest of the devices in my home.

I am guessing Spark might have put me on the 100/20 Fibre + Landline plan instead of the 200/20 that I have requested.

Just to clarify - that's WAY back in the day, during Go Large and Bigtime. The most recent unlimited plan has never had any traffic management applied to it, despite what anyone has said, even if they are totally up with it and have a mate in Spark that told them, or if they were told by the helpdesk etc. Didn't happen.

Spark thinks I am still on the 100/50 plan and there is an open order to move me to 200/20.

The tech has installed the phone, and from what I can see the UPLOAD speed has dropped exactly from 50 to 20.

She insists that I am still on 100/50.

"From what i can see you are 100/50 -- if you have issues with your speed you will need to speak to the Broadband Technical on 0800225598 "

"im sorry but you will need to speak to the Broadband Helpdesk -- im unable to do any provisioning here for the fibre plans and i can only tell you what i can see on the account and that shows 100/50 "

I will wait for the weekend and try calling them on Monday if the speeds don't change.

100/20 seems quite possible. Speed changes are provisioned by Spark, but sent to the network provider to change, that can take a few days. The call centre will check the order, but that will show the speed change we provisioned, not the speed Chorus turned you to. Can check that Monday unless someone here from Chorus can check the profile?
