Hey all,

I am having some problems with my Internet connectivity - some sites don't load, such as trademe.co.nz and live.com (so national and international), and I get timeouts when running tracert's.  I have rebooted by router, and even the ONT (I am on UFB), but no change.

This occurs across multiple devices, iPad, Windows, OSX, and across multiple DNS servers (Unblock and Bigpipe).

Here is a tracert to live.com:

Any ideas? I am not an expert on reading this, but to me it looks like something is "down" or slow both on BigPipe and on the wider Internet?

BTW I have raised this with BigPipe, just curious to see if anyone else has problems.

Yep. I'm having the same sorts of issues too. In my case, nothing seems to be loading now. Just happened a few minutes ago. Just came here to check if anyone else was experiencing issues.

Happened to me a few days ago too. By the morning it was okay again.

Router / modem reboots don't seem to fix it. The DSL light does come on though.

For what it's worth, I'm in Bucklands Beach, Auckland.

similar issues here too, started about 10-15 mins before this thread.  But when I disabled unblock-us and reverted back to Bigpipe DNS everything seemed to work fine, so it seem to be an unblock-us issue

Have you double checked you have DEFINITELY removed unblock-US DNS and reverted to Bigpipe DNS?

I thought this too.

It started working when i removed the DNS settings for Unblock-Us for a while. But tried again just now (using Bagpipe DNS) and it's still not connecting. So, not so sure it is Unblock-US.

Will keep checking...

flushed your resolver cache?

Tracert to live.com looked prettymuch the same as mine, but that redirects all sorts of places before loading so could be something else that unblockus were taking over and they are having issues.

Ok, scrub that. I think it is the unblock-us DNS. Was just taking time to pick up the bigpipe dns when I tried it again.

Just been back and forth between unblock-us and bigpipe dns's and unblock-us dns is the culprit as far as i can see. I'm on the bigpipe dns's as I type this...

Update
There's just been a posting in the Unblock-Us support section. There's an issue at their end:

Having issues here as well. latency fluctuating abnormally usually 1, up to 30 within Auckland speedtest, some sites take 200+ms within NZ hosting. Usually latency is under 30ms to aus.
Download and upload is also shocking relatively. from 206 down 207 up to 80 down 0.01 up (mb). No packet loss.

Spent the evening problem solving and came to the conclusion it is outside of our network.
Bigpipe fibre 200/200 plan.
Something is definitely up. Testing to Sydney vpn usually has ping <30. Sitting at 320<.
Not DNS

Tested Bigpipe, Spark and google DNS

For those on fibre, can you post what model type your ONT is? It's printed on the front of your ONT, under the words Optical Network Terminal.

If @BigPipe read this - I cannot reply to your emails about the service desk incident I raised, as my emails are not sending.

So:

1) I can read geekzone but not post
2) I can receive emails but not send
3) Most sites load the home page, but often get no further

This is the same as yesterday
