it's a fairly common request here to ask how to setup a certain modem or router for Bigpipe goodness.

So we've (finally!) gotten around to pulling together guides for the most popular devices on Bigpipe.

Question regarding using the Draytek Vigor 130 bridged to another device on Bigpipe VDSL:

I see your guide uses the PPPoE client and the passthrough option/feature but the guide from Snappernet who distribute Draytek in NZ uses MPoA/IPoE

If you want the modem to terminate the PPPoE, do it the first way. If you want the router after the modem to terminate PPPoE, do it the second way. Either will be fine, depends on what you want.

I'm planning on hooking up with Bigpipe for UFB when we move back to our house in April.

Will be using a Netgear D7000. I assume these will work OK. Anyone got one?

He's gone very quiet recently now that many other ISPs have also introduced non-mandatory filter installs for naked VDSL.

Apologies in advance for formatting. Not my guides, just breaking out the copy pasta.

630b:

Open your Web Browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox)

In the address bar, type 192.168.1.254

Press Enter

Enter your Modem Username (the default is admin)

Enter your Modem Password (the default is admin)

Click Basic from the left.

Ensure the Fibre tab is selected from the top.

Change VLAN ID to -1

Once you have made the required changes, click Submit.

HG659 differs depending on where it came from.

UFB (Vodafone)

Before you begin, restore your router to factory default, either by holding the small reset button on the back for 6 seconds or more, or through the Maintain, Device Management, Factory Restore menu.

Plug the blue WAN port on the back of the router to the GE1 port on the ONT on the wall. The WAN light on the router should be solid green, and the LAN1 light on the ONT should be green or orange. If this doesn’t happen, please get in contact with us.
Connect your computer to one of the LAN ports on the router
Log in to the router at http://192.168.1.1 The default username is Admin. The password may be VF-NZhg659, or if that doesn’t work, try @[last eight digits of the serial number], so if the last eight digits of the serial number is 12345678, then your password may be @12345678 (Please note these are case sensitive).
After you have logged in, click Internet at the top bar, then click Internet Settings on the left side.
You will find a few internet settings on this page. Please find the one with Access Type Ethernet and click the Edit button. If you can’t find it please click New WAN connection at the bottom of the screen.
Please edit the settings as follows:

Name: Bigpipe UFB

Service type: Internet

Access Type (if present): Ethernet uplink

Connection Type: IP routing (PPP)

Enable VLAN: unticked

Internet account: Bigpipe

Internet password: Bigpipe

Click Save
Click Restart PPPoE

9. The IPv4 status should now say Connected and your internet should work!
