https://www.spark.co.nz/tbmchange

A customer had an email from Spark stating they must change mx records , because of changes to
Telecom Business email

However, there domain hosting was setup through Telecom.
So will Telecom automatically make the changes in the MX , or do we have to ring Spark & get them
to do this.

Surely to god spark could have just redirected mx records from old to new
ie, why didnt they just redirect mail.tbhub.co.nz to mx1.sparkbusinessmail.co.nz
It seems a bit sloppy & not thought out. Many telecom bus email a/c will have domains hosted via Spark (or setup via spark)

but anyway, will they make the change themselves or do I need to contact them & tell them to do it ?

All rather sloppy for a business class email system
Shouldnt need to ring the helpdesk to get relevant info , and shouldnt need to google search to get info

So heres what I found out, in case anyone else needs to do this

=============

for domains setup/hosted by Spark : they will automatically change mx records
no definite date for changeover, being rolled out across a few weeks next month
they will send customer an email after they moved that customer to the new system

new email settings needed
pop3.sparkbusinessmail.co.nz , 995,SSL
mail.sparkbusinessmail.co.nz , 587,TLS

Anyway, not sure why they didnt move to true exchange based email, instead of some partial exchange hybrid
They are competing with Onenet, 365 etc. Its like they arnt even trying , is this something they dont really want to be doing ?
