Anyone else having extreme latency issues with Telecom in Auckland this evening.

Our latency is almost always perfect when playing WoW, we normally get 250-400ms to Boston DataCenter and tonight we are getting over 1000ms.

This is not normal. Done all the checks. Just wondering if there is a known issue (or unknown issue they are not telling us about and someone here knows) lol.

Something is broken, my server in LA normally gets a ping of about 180, currently varies from 450ms to 700ms. Same for a friend in Christchurch (I'm in Wellington). I would run a speed test, but I don't have the patience to wait for the speedtest.net page to load.

Anyone else liking the idea of another international cable? lol

Yep def broken down here in Christchurch. Browsing is slow/almost dead. WoW is up well over 1000ms. Huge thread on GP with people all having the same problem. One of the telecom hops seems to be SLOOOOOW according to traces.

Hi there - I'm having the same issue.  I connect further afield to wow's european servers. It's usually around 600, tonight it's 1500ms.  Not noticed any reported issues.

Telecom have confirmed there is an issue (when I was on the phone), they didn't believe me for the first 15min, then they finally got an email. Still nothing on telecom.co.nz, I managed to get a manager who said he would pass it on to technicians in NZ that the website needed the information, and now rather than after it is fixed (they were trying to tell me they had to find the problem first).

@tamulmol, have you tried restarting your modem (and router, if it's a seperate device). Also, are you using a wired or wireless connection to the modem/router?

Try a NZ based site like stuff.co.nz, it should be pretty fast, international sites are crazy slow atm.

Yeah, well I kinda figured there was a problem seeing we also have consistantly the same latency every day. Peak time normally doesn't make much of a difference. I am on the Pro plan by the ways.

I think ISP's really need to listen to us consumers. When our latency suddenly spikes up to between 400-1000ms, when we game everyday - that to me means their is something wrong. I checked with guildies to make sure it wasn't a wow latency problem, seeing they are starting to distribute the next patch. But their latency was well within the normal realms.

We'll see if it's back to normal tonight I guess. We missed out on our frosts last night lol as it was impossible to play. So here's hoping tonight works *cross fingers*

My ping is now 146-148 to LA, usually 180ms, so I'm happy as long as it stays this way. No word from Telecom about what actually happened, maybe I'll give them a call while it's still early.

I agree their helpdesks need to be better informed and be more willing to say, yep there's problem it's being worked on rather than pretending there is no problem.

ISP's could definately be way more useful with their status pages which are never updated ever.

However, at the end of the day residential adsl is a best effort shared network service with no gaurantee of speed or performance.

Where is Telecom's network status page/updates? I don't know where it is.

The good thing about when we were on Vodafone(besides the bad latency we had), is that they had their own forum with updates and you could post any problems there and VF staff would act on it.

Telecom has nothing like that, that i have found?
