Ph and ask if there is any payment outstanding??

Yeps called and they just said it's awaiting clearance, nothing mentioned about payment outstanding, it only got to auckland today so I'm probably just being impatient!

Another great review, thanks! Stupid question: I understand that XT phones aren't locked, so I should be able to get one of these and put my 2degrees sim card in it, correct?

Awesome. How does this fare against the Vodafone 845? Worth the extra ~$100? I'm just looking for my first android-phone-on-a-budget so this new one has roused my interest.

Just to add to the mix, you can also get the 2Degrees Ideos for $279 at DSE which is $100 off and this one runs Froyo out of the box

The samsung is worth the extra $100 in my opinion, overall the samsung is faster and the capacitive touch screen makes a massive difference - the ideos on 2degrees looks nice but I have not used this device so cannot really comment.

Langers1972: the 2degrees IDEOS is $379, even at Dick Smith.

Was $279 until the 23rd Nov - it's gone back up now - I did see the IDEOS at Warehouse Stationery for $349 with sim - not sure if it's worth the price because I don't have one but with more android phones due to be released before xmas it may pay to wait.

Just a disappointing update on this phone - i've been using it for over a week now and it has 2 major issues:

1) Phone Coma - it's goes to sleep and won't wake up (only taking the battery out will fix it)

more here: http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-5/218135-samsung-galaxy-5-i5503-major-worries.html

2) Wifi - the phone fails to reconnect to a remembered network won't even work with a manual connect (can only be fixed by rebooting phone)

more here: http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-5/178812-problems-wifi-samsung-galaxy-5-i5500.html

It's a real shame as this is a really nice wee phone however these issues will be show stoppers for many.

There are rumors of a 2.2 update coming in Dec/Jan that should fix these issues - we'll wait and see I guess.

Should I perhaps look around more? My budget is $300. Perhaps I can get something on special at the beginning of January.

IDEOS is now $299 RRP on 2degrees - AND if you top-up $150 2degrees PrePay when you buy it then you will get the phone for only $149!!!! This is a 2.2 Android with Proximity and Ambient Light sensors.
