Hi currently I'm using Adventure
but I got 40gb for couple of months (double even)
you see adventure is fixed cost..
From now I used more than 100gb as normal speed(ADSL2+? something like that)
what's going on here??
The telecom web says

  • If you use more than your monthly data allowance your connection speed will slow down to a maximum of dial-up connection speed for the rest of the month. No additional usage costs apply

  • I guess it's a problem with their server or etc..
If they charge me for this can I refute them with that policy??

    Thanks.

Yeh one of my mates had that a year ago or so, was on the 20GB plan and downloaded close to 100GB at full speed each month before Telecom finally caught on and stopped it. He didnt get billed for it though.

This is normal... Happens quite frequently actually.

Telecom has the right to slow your internet connection to dialup speeds (well actually 64kbps) after you have reached your monthly data allowance. Meaning that at any point after you have reached your allowance they can drop your speed. They dont always drop it straight away and sometimes leave it for a little while.

I have had mine left on for a good week once and downloaded about 120GB on a 20GB plan.

About a year ago i managed to get 115gb downloaded on a 10gb plan!!! that was when telecom had all the stuff ups in December last year even though we had gone over the usage our speed stayed at normal for the whole month!

Like any system, there are ways you can 'get the most' out of your connection...

Abuse the power while you can

I've had the odd time like this when I still had highspeed connection even after my cap had been exceeded.
They didn't charge me for my excess and I went way beyond my 20gb cap

It's not even about 'abusing the power' as much as it is working within the boundaries of the system.

There will always be people who understand the system better than others and they are the ones who benefit the most.

It's about the only time I feel satisfied with the service I'm receiving from them
