Hi All,
I'm new to the forum, so hope this is posted in the right place.
My son has just bought a Telecom V9, and I'm trying to make sure it is running at its best. For what he wants it for, it was a cheap option at @ $199. I'm good at turning on a computer but thats where my knowledge ends, so please be gentle with meWink.
How do I tell what the software update on the ZTE site, is for ? And if I install it, will it erase all the numbers and email addresses he has entered? This is the title of the update is DRV_HS_G_2066v1.0.0B04 from this site under NZ Handsets http://wwwen.zte.com.cn/endata/mobile/NewZealand/.

If it is right, how do I download it from  my P.C.? Just hook up the table via usb, save it to the SD card and run it? Its a zip file. so will i need an app, to open the zip file? Told you I was only good at turning these new fangled doohickies on!?!?!?!
All helpfull suggestions /walk throughs most welcome.
Cheers
Brendon

Android tends to update OTA (over the air) if there is new firmware for it then it will tell you.

I would think the one on the website is if it all turns to poo and you need to reload the OS.

With my Android devices I just let them tell me when they are ready to update, I use to root etc but can't be stuffed doing that now.

My rule is, root or use custom firmware if you have the money to brick the device, otherwise just leave it

Hi Brendon,

It's just a driver (for connecting PC to tablet) not a firmware upgrade so no benefit to you really.

Cheers
