I have had several of my users report to me that they are getting network congestion issues on the Telecom mobile network, and they've heard of others having issues also. Located in Christchurch and Blenheim.

Calls coming in to them just don't connect and when they try to ring out to their voicemail the get messages about network congestion.

The Telecom website reports no issues, and I am certainly having no issues in Ashburton.

Is there a Telecom Network Issue?

Have any of them logged a call with 120?  Do you know what their case numbers are?

The CSRs can lookup a whole myriad of information about the customer and see what's going on.

That would be the best place to get action or to see if there is a per-user fault or a particular site fault.

There is nothing obvious on our internal faults page pointing to a significant outage.

One of our people is waiting for a Telecom person to call them back (although given half the issue is that calls are not connecting through then I am not sure about this ending well!) and the other person I haven't heard back from.

The person in Christchurch who did call 120 was told by the Telecom person there was no issues, they could see him on the network. But calls are not getting through, and now all his skipped voicemails from today have been dropped also!

He as crashed his phone by removing the battery several times.

Feel free to EMail me pl at telecom.do.nz or PM me with any affected mobile numbers and I will see if there are known issues.  And will try and forward it onto the appropriate support channel.

You are sure it's not a specific handset issue.

Have just heard back for my user that Telecom have told him they think he was stuck on a particular tower, but he isn't any more. Does this sound right?

I had some strange issues here in Whakatane today too (although it's behaving itself now); my phone was reporting No Service and took a reboot to get it up and running again (although I didn't think to try toggling flight mode). Five minutes later I found it back on No Service again. Later I found it on zero bars (instead of the usual 4-5) but was still successfully able to access data etc.

I figured that it was just my phone being silly, but after seeing your post I decided that it's best to mention it. As noted above, it seems to have resolved itself now, although I'll certainly post back if I see anything else happen.
