Regs: unless the LOGOUT button has been magically linked to the BIG RED X on the IE/Chrome window this isnt the reason for the problem...

Ah! See, normal Windows UI is a WHITE X within a red rectangle. You have a RED X?

This must be the problem, then ;-)

I have the standard Windows 7 Aero UI and that one has a WHITE X on a RED background.  My Bad :)

happened again just now. Both IE8 and Chrome had me logged out. Last time it failed was approx 5 days ago, similar time of night. What is the timeout on the cookie i wonder?

I have had this problem too over the last week or so.
Using latest firefox.
Was fine this morning but when I went to geekzone this afternoon I had to log in again.
It happened again this evening too.

after clearing cookies, re-entering password in Chrome, shutting down browser and navigating to geekzone again I see the autologin fail again. Something wacky going on for sure

It was fine the first time I opened Firefox this morning but every time after that I have had to log back in again.
Edit: Have also done the clear cookies thing.

Edit 2:  well after just adding that last line in my post I was automatically logged out!

I use Firefox, IE8 here - sometimes Chrome but not on Geekzone - and don't see this problem. Are you guys using any network with a transparent proxy? I've seen someone on Twitter who couldn't see anything new in the latest post page. I asked him to logout/login and it worked.

I am behind a proxy, using IE 7.0.5730.13. And I am constantly logged out. Whenever I come back to gz, the most recent post in the discussions is from 0308 23/02/2010 until I log in, and then it shows the most recent posts.

New to GeekZone, hello!

I never close the browser, and in the case of this edit, closed the only geekzone tab, re-opened it within 10seconds, and I was already logged back out.

I am always selecting 'auto login'.

I am seeing this issue again this morning. Tried the logout/clear cookies/restart browser etc but still asks to log in every time. On TCL Cable, no proxy , using FF3.5.8.

Not using any proxy or anything like that and we are with Xnet if that makes any difference.
Nothing has changed on my laptop and it happens at home and at work.

Just noticed that now it is even automatically logging me out as soon as I browse away from Geekzone and then come back again.
It's never done that before even with the earlier problems unless I actually closed Firefox and reopened.

Well just did some more testing and it looks like it may be a link problem??
My shortcut to Geekzone in Firefox was linking to http://www.geekzone.co.nz, which has always worked in the past until now, but now if I use that link I have to log in again.
Once logged in I see the address changes to http://www.geekzone.co.nz/default.asp? so I updated my shortcut to that and it seems to be OK.

Could anyone having problems please from now on please view the source for the default page you visit and scroll to the bottom - look for "Page created in" comment and let me know if the timestamp is correct and if your IP address is correct.

After noting this, refresh the page (not CTRL F5, just F5) and see if the information changes.
