If you are separating the profile stuff so that it is all on the left, shouldn't the report button be on the right?

This is just an idea to make better use of the space available on screen, for me fitting more on screen is a bonus, the large icons down the side just really bug my OCD.

I can't say I am a fan of the new buttons down the left, each post now is massive and I have a 1440p display!

I know there is a heavy emphasis on faster loading times on the site, but I'd prefer a more balanced approach personally.

I think more people would use the stalk function, if it was called something more intuitive like "follow"

Hopefully more experimentation on positioning and size (colour too) of those buttons will continue.

I like the idea of a nested button that expands to the existing option buttons. Couldnt those who are browsing on mobile devices just go into desktop mode on their mobile browsers to choose if they are not already using desktop mode?

Having said that I dont actually mind the extra real estate.

The posts are still huge. Take a leave from vBulletin, use a drop down. I don't understand why they were moved. I don't understand why you don't use vBulletin actually.

Images are cached on the browser, if you do it properly, four hits per day/week shouldn't be too much for your CDN.

I'm not worried about the CDN. If you don't know the whole thing/reasons then you can't get to these conclusions.

Buttons were moved because those actions are related to the account, not the post. Post actions are on top of the post, account actions are near the avatar.

I like michaelmurfy's idea of positioning those actions next to the avatar.

I don't understand why you don't use vBulletin actually.

Because we don't.

I have a fairly extensive performance background, happy to help if I can.

Have you considered drop downs? Much more compact.

In that case, Set Answer should be on top of the post.

I also like the "rounded" style suggested on the previous page (although I'd use darker colours).

Yep in favour of smaller rounded buttons next to the avatar.

I'd really like the Quote button back on first post. Don't allow it until the first reply because it's obvious the first reply is in relation to the first post, but a few posts on, a point of reference is useful.

Also can we have a public poll for the url detection? I hate having to type tags, and hitting buttons and pasting urls is also a pain.

I know I've brought it up before but at the moment I can only see two posts on my screen before needing to scroll. I wish the gap between each post is a lot narrower so it's easier to read and compare. It's the "Set Answer", "Stalk User", "Report" etc buttons making each post very long.

This is a good idea... Will work on this after changing the design today.

When other people learn to use BBCode ;)

Do the buttons on the left hand side need to be buttons at all? Could they just be linked text like the "Subscriber" link? They would take up much less vertical space.
There are three different styles of buttons on each post, looks somewhat irregular, I personally prefer the dark "quote" button style.

Cheers,
Joseph
