Was really looking forward to tomorrow and meeting some of you but I've spent all day today quite sick. Just in-case I have got something contagious I've decided to quarantine myself so won't be able to make it tomorrow. I know, Murphy's law.

Hopefully everyone has a great time regardless! Will make it to the next one.

It's definitely CV, I will notify the CDC....

Stink buzz, hope you are feeling better soon pal. If the Wellington congregation decides to hold one, I'm sure a few of us will trip it down.

maoriboy:

Righto, I'll possibly be the first one there so look for a guy with either a bright blue AB's shirt on or a red hoodie - depending on how warm it is outside 😃. As per the earlier post by @shinychrome the password is still  "I like big butts and I cannot lie" hahahaha.

Oh, there has been a change there @maoriboy; since you will be the first person, your password is "I'd like an Angry Dragon please". Everyone else can just ask for the Geekzone reservation. Or Geek's Own, the person who took the booking had to ask a couple of times, so I don't know if they got it right.

I'll be there a little bit early as well, since Government Friday hours and all.

Hahaha, I'll just look out for the reservation sign on the table that says "Geekzone". There will be no Angry Dragon's going on at all 😂

As I mentioned in another thread, Ola launched in PN this week. For those of looking for a safe and cheap way to get home tonight or over the next few weeks they're doing a deal. Got the following in an email from them (noting they clearly need to be taught the rule about capitalising proper nouns):

To celebrate our arrival in palmerston north we're launching Ola Nights. This means you can enjoy free $10 rides every Friday and Saturday evenings for the next four weeks.

Whether you're hitting the town or heading home, get a $10 ride on us between 4pm and midnight every weekend until 22 Feb.

Edit: Seems like it's a $10 credit that will be applied to any trip during those dates/times (so one would pay anything above $10); limited to one ride per user per day, so clearly able to be used multiple times if on different days.

Got the email and will be trying this out tonight, will be interesting considering I’m a Uber/ola virgin as well. Cab from town to mine is in the $35+ bracket so will be interesting to see the price difference.

Yeah, I'm tempted to try it too, but living only 10 minutes walk from Brew Union it's a bit hard to justify! (The comparison I looked at yesterday would have had me paying $12-13 from home>airport, vs the $23-25 I pay for a taxi.)

I have landed in the mighty city. Might just walk to BU and open a tab.

Thanks for coming last night everyone, had a great time and good to catch up! Although I must admit I was a little worse for wear this morning haha.

Thanks @freitasm for sponsoring the event and making the trip up and good to meet the man, the myth, the legend. Hope the trip home was uneventful.

Let's not wait too long to do the next shindig, although my liver will thank me if maybe we don't go full noise next time haha.

I'm sure a few of us would also be keen to trip it down if the wellington region branch do something. Once patient zero has been cleared of course haha.

And thanks for the ride home @maoriboy!

Was a good evening, good to put faces to names, and as above big thanks to @freitasm for coming along and providing a few nibbles and drinks.
Have to admit to being a little tired this morning but nothing that a few chores around the house this morning couldn’t set right.

Yes, thanks heaps to @freitasm for making the trip down and for everyone who made it. So much for only having one beer that night hahaha! Definitely keen for a roadie once I regain some semblance of a social life 😃
