Geeks of the Manawatu Province, lend me your rears...

As usual, me and some of the boys were discussing trying to get a bargain, when someone bought up pints, and someone else bought up the lack of pints, and as we all know, pints are good.

Then @maoriboy called me out, so here we are.

Who is keen for a little new-year shindig? I was thinking a cheeky after-work beer on a Friday for the commuting members of our congregation.

I'm pretty much good for every Friday onwards into February until the 28th.

Venue is @maoriboy's house TBD, could do the usual Brew Union, or Brewers Apprentice. Or any other suggestions, always keen to try a new watering-hole.

Feel free to shout out a mention to others that might not see this.

freitasm:

Like last time I can coordinate to contribute with a tab...

Your generosity is always appreciated, most excellent one.

Of course, feel free to let us know if you are up this way soon, but I can appreciate its a long round trip.

I’m certainly keen on a repeat. Most Fridays should be fine for me, other than Feb 7 and probably Feb 28. How about you others?

Thanks for organising, ShinyChrome, and the tab offer, freitasm.

The 7th of Feb is out for me as I'm off running a stupidly long distance in Rotorua that weekend ๐Ÿ˜‚. Otherwise any Friday should be fine for me. Thanks @shinychrome for following up on being called out ๐Ÿ˜‰ and @freitasm for the generous offer once again!

I can likely pop up from Paraparaumu also. Keep me informed of the date you decide and I'll ensure I work from home this day.

Available the next couple fridays, patchy after that as I may be doing late shifts.
Apparently the karaoke at the Albert on Fridayโ€™s is quite good according to @maoriboy :-)

Perhaps not this Friday as Murfy wants to join and I know he is coming to Wellington Saturday morning.

Righto chaps, it looks like our options are

  • 31st January
  • 14th Feb (although might earn you some doghouse points with your SO...)
  • 21st Feb
  • March?

So I'm good for all of the above. How does the 31st AKA Friday next week sound?

If that is too soon, we can make it the 21st Feb.

Also venue wise, we have a few choices:

OR karaoke lessons with @maoriboy at the Albert....

I'm leaning towards either Brew Union or Speight's. Only been to SAH for a meal, but it looks alright for a few beersies.

Brew Union is always good - especially in summer. Some of us IT guys probably need all the vitamin D we can get.

Bit more room at Speights though if Brew Union is busy,

Friday the 31st sounds good to me; venue-wise, my preference would be for BU again, primarily because the beer selection at the other places is pretty poor, whereas BU has such a wide range that there's something there for everyone...

Speaking of BU - does anyone know when Libre's supposed to open? I recall it was going to have been late 2019, which clearly never happened...
