KJClayton: I suddenly realised after all these years of being a geek, 14+ years of being in IT, I should really sign up to Geekzone... :) It's very insightful, and using the 'live' page means I can see if there's any outages or issues that affect things I look at so I can be 'in the know', which is always helpful in IT.

Stalker. ;)

For me, think it was just somewhere new to chat to like minded people - now my mind is gone and I feel out of place. :)

It was a rainy night....with no geeks in sight.

Standing by the road, with no umbrella, no coat.

So Geekzone pulled up alongside and asked me for a ride.

They brought the geek out in me....so many times, easily

But in the morning when I awoke, all they'd left me was a note...

Pretty sure it's a similar story to a song I have heard, but there you go...

Way back in the deep dark past Mauricio contacted me when the O2 Xda series was in market and users locally were seeking help. I was the product manager for the widget and he bailed me up about something.... Can't recall

We exchanged much email, and I joined GZ after deciding to return to NZ.

Wanted to rant about Vodafone's Prepay data pricing. $61440 for 6GB vs $79.95 on post pay.

Had been a lurker for some time before though.

DarthKermit: I remember googling for information about home networking, LANs, etc years ago now and GZ came up high in the search results.

I found a lot of useful info on the aforementioned subjects plus other interesting topics so I decided to register as a user.

That plus the free set of steak knives that Mauricio was offering. tongue-out

You reminded me just now of the Jasjar or Jasjam PDA! Haha, what a silly name when I think about it now.

Lurked for ages then joined I think because someone probably said something about Vodafone that I wasn't going to let slide.

I went to Dunedin uni many years ago and I was lonely.

It was so tough being on your own.

No one around me to share the same interest.

I Google-ed for some new friends - geekzone was the top of the list.

It took me a good few years before I signed up here.

My first post was July 2007 (asking about hsdpa speed) - johnr was the first to reply. He did not disclose that he works for vodafone back then.
