Hi,

Can I suggest a change in the way items for sale are listed in the Offers and Wanted section?  I have seen a big increase lately in listings that are just links to Trademe, with no other details including price.  This is really annoying and also at my current workplace Trademe is blocked.

Can I suggest that people have to include details of the item?  I know PeterReader will remind them, but is there a way to have more fields such as for price, location, etc. inside of geekzone?

We have been asked to put these fields before, but we're not really a commerce site... Treat that as a marketplace.

What we can do is to implement a policy to remove offers that are just links to Trade Me. To manage this we will have to rely on users reporting posts that don't comply with the policy, until everyone learns...

Fair comments, but I also see an increase in listings in general (or maybe I just check more).  Maybe you will finally have a competitor to Trademe!

How would we be best to notify admins of listings that are just links? Or would you rather have users asking the OP to include the details?

The links direct to trademe are annoying IMHO as I can use trademe if I'm looking but think that Geekzone should maybe just have stuff for sale to us, selfish huh

I think there should be a blanket rule to not allow trademe links on the OP, offer the item(s) to Geekzone members first and if they don't sell afte x days then pop them on Trademe and provide a link as a response.

I think we can go with that. I will have to change the forum description and after that you can just use the Report option.

As Trade Me links will have trademe.co.nz in them perhaps you could just search for that string and remove the post automatically if found? No user intervention required!

I don't have a problem with to links but they need to at least copy and paste descriptions and a price
