Aucklandjafa: I’m assuming companions will also get unlimited data each for $35/month? If so, that’s truly ripped the value out of Spark and 2d!

If you split it between 4 people it would be $46.25 for each person for that plan which is a good deal for unlimited data with no speed limit which would be on par or better than Australian mobile plans if that’s the case.

Finally we are seeing NZ mobile providers offering more data for less.

Value: yes. But no one (99% of people) actually needs unlimited data - if you’re using more than 40gb/month then you really need to ask yourself some questions. This will definitely help those in small households that could save some coin by dropping their fixed-line bb

For reasons that I can't be bothered explaining, I use a lot of mobile data. > 100gb/month. Up until about 10 minutes ago (when I signed up for the One-Plan) I had the extra-large 100gb plan plus one companion for $135.00 p/m for 200gb total. So this is a $20 saving for me and I am happy to take it.

As the extra-large plan has been removed from the offerings, one would imagine that 100gb usage per plan does not exceed their fair-use policy. I guess I'll find out.

100%! there will be people that use crazy amounts, yourself included, as well as people who will want to merge their fixed line bb, but the vast majority of people wouldn’t use over 40Gb per month of mobile data.

You'll be fine, as mentioned in one of the earlier thread, there is a soft cap of 1TB on the plan before fair use policy even comes into play.

Yeah, I'm definitely an unusually high mobile data user. (Hope I didn't come across as having a go in my last post, I didn't mean to.)

Quite impressed with the plan and its pricing. Definitely a shot across the bows.

Will be interested to see how this plans out on the business side, their current plans are already quite sharp compared to the competition (eg. I'm saving approx $500/month on my set of connections compared to like for like on Spark). Removing the 40GB cap would be awesome to see.

Has anyone else noticed the carrier name while on VoWiFi is still vodafone NZ? As soon as it switches either way it changes between that and One NZ.

Saw this on my linkedin feed - TVNZ has lodged notice of possible opposition proceedings against 18 (yes, EIGHTEEN) of ONE.NZ (logo) trade mark applications that were recently accepted.

Interestingly, the TMs were filed in the name Baycity Communications Limited (completely owned by Vodafone NZ Limited) - so there's an element of trying to sneak these TM through the system. But I think the more likely scenario would be One.NZ wanting to lock something down prior to the recent public announcement as the applications were first filed in May 2022.

Still a bit to go under the bridge as TVNZ hasn't actually formally opposed the TMs - but if they do, then one can imagine that it will pretty expensive litigation proceeding!

That new One unlimited data plan does look appealing, but I'd struggle to use it with their coverage in Marlborough. In lots of places I frequently go, OneNZ coverage is poor.  I'm not talking about anywhere off the beaten track e.g. Picton and bits of SH6 and SH1.  That why I use Spark as my main SIM.

Hardly surprising.

TVNZ has been using the

logo and the word 'One' as a market identifier (as in "... and meanwhile on One ...") for a long, long time.

It seems extraordinary to me that the former VF thought they could get away with this re-name without any courtroom dramas

Well it's not so simple - the potential opposition is to this logo:

Can you genuinely say they look the same/similar or that consumers would be confused or deceived by the use of it? Both are pretty distinctive when compared to one another.. There's all other sorts of factors that come into play which i haven't touched on.. It;ll be interesting to see how TVNZ frame their case if they do decide to proceed with a formal opposition.
