Let me share this:

I am a little bit dissappointed with Vodafone Marketing here.
It's not typical I can say. Vodafone have a very aggressive marketing in other countries.

First of all I thought that 10th of August - 3G launch - the city will be in "red", like giant posters everywhere, full page ads in newspapers, brand new look of VF webpage, radio commercials, all shops and dealers have new 3G signs....

And what happened? Nothing.
I've heard the first tv interview will be around 6.40 - 7 pm in the telly today, but I dont know exactly on which channel.
I was in the city today, going around and saw nothing. No 3G signs, no posters even at dealers like Noel Leeming or Harvey Norman, not a tiny ad in NZHerald.

VF became a little bit "lazy" here or "cheap", because of only one competitor. In other countries Voda have more operators as competitors, so the race is much harder.

Do you think it's normal? Did you expect something similar then me, or am I the only one with this opinion? maybe because I am an ex-VF employee :)

Its the first day watch this space I am sure things are going to fire up. They will be doing some fine tuning of the network and how they are going to do things then i'm sure things will come alive big time. I went past a vodafone store n chch today and there were about 12 people in there. Does anyone know the channel the interview is on? I bet the ads will start tonight after 6PM.

Our 21 month old daughter thinks the video calls are great - she got used to them in Australia (on holiday) and was most disappointed when she couldn't "see mummy" when we got back to NZ.

I wonder if Telecom will pull their 3G ad of the girl wanting to see her mother on her mobile phone? Now Vodafone can show her mother live on screen but Telecom can't! :-)

Video calling to 23 countrys already. Sorry I know I am repeating myself here. Got a video call on the bus today while listening to MP3s and the lady beside was most interested but I kept the call short till I got off the bus.

Tell me about it. Even with all my contacts and emails and calls I still haven't seen one handset or one test call. Not even the press release. Very disapointing to see how Vodafone treats on-line communities.

Just to have an idea, by the T3G launch date I had a Harrier and a limited time test account to try the service. Vodafone on the other hand did not even reply to my emails.

I tried out video calling today, pretty bloody cool. Does anyone know how I'll be able to use all the vodafone live stuff? I got a V800 with Z800 firmware, I'll give version if need be.

well hi have myself a 3G handset. a nokia 6680.

So far so good, however i have not yet made a video call, and streaming sky news i have found my handset needs to "buffer" all the time. not very watchable yet. however the video was good quality when it was there.

Ambrose_1 I have the same setup as you and can not do the 3G vlive stuff but have a good friend that knows lots about it and we will be doing some changes and testing next week and will let you know. I am happy to make or take a video call from anyone and show my ugly mugg!

I also saw that ad for Campbell live too, looks like they're gonna do what Closeup does, a media beat up make it sound like a bad thing "Oh no it means privacy is out the window and we all possibly die because of it"

Yea, I don't like mainstream media much.
