01EG: Hi guys,
This morning got my PAP2T, called to Xnet sales and provided with my MAC. Processing the application was really fun, lady asked me a lot of Can you confirm ?, am I terrorist or spy? Especially two question: Can you confirm that you are TCL customer? and next question Can you confirm that you are not Telecom customer? When I signed-up with Telecom (1996) and TCL (ex Saturn 1998/99?) (long time ago) I remember nobody asked me the questions like those ones. Why is that?

I'm confused, what next step? Lady told me that she will supply me all information. Now is lunchtime and got nothing.

Yup - and I fouind the questions to NOT be invasive etc - just useful (for WXC anyway). And the person I delt with (Ray) explained why, that it was being recorded etc. No false pretenses or "cover ups" at all.

I'd rather that than the 4-techs-in-4-days-and-around-30-calls-for-around-6-hours palava I went thru with Telstra.....

Oh - the other thing - it was "fun" finding the proviosioning box on the PAP2T - make sure you are in Advanced mode - some times, for me, it switched back to basic mode between page changes..... there should be a provisioning tab at the top :)

Thanks guys for support.
I'm going through my account and found that my phone is 4831XXXX. My understanding is that 4 is for Wgtn and 831 my first 3 digits, is right? Is it possible to change last 4 digits?

And another thing: on Ascent website ads says:
Pre-loaded Xnet VFX voice service. The $11.25 monthly fee is waived until April 2007. You receive a local phone number for example (09 950 xxxx, 04 950 xxxx etc) and can make free local calls, just like your landline. You even get a web portal to manage your phone’s advanced features such as having your voicemail emailed to you!

and 950 sound better then 831.

950 is only in Auckland, I think. I'm on 831, too

Personally, I dont care. I would have prefered to have the same last 4 digits I used to have (9x20 - edited :) ), but I have to tell people ANYWAY, so I'm not overly fussed. We get, like, 5 calls a MONTH, so it's no biggie.... I'm sure my parents will remember it :)

Hi Phil,

Thanks for all your input to these forums, its great that you are taking the time to be involved (as I'm sure all the VFX stuff is keeping you very busy).

Just an other little suggestion for your future features list - text message notification of voice-mail message to your mobile phone.

Thanks

Hi guys,

All works now.

I have a few questions:

1. Under web admin of PAP2T -> Line 1 -> Auto configuration -> it says: "Preferred Codec: G711u". As I can remember Phil sad that they use G729. My PAP2T has dropdown list with other codes and it has G729a as well. If I changed, will I have any advantage from it?

2. When somebody call me, the pause between ring is too long, how I can make it shorter?

cheers

P.S. my wife complains that the phone line has some noises and I can hear nothing. Frown

My PAP2T reports, when on a call, that it's using G711u - I dont think thats a problem.

No idea about the pause :)

I got mine working tonight, too. The fax doesn't register that it's ringing, but the phone works fine, and when I press "pick up the fax" on the fax machine, it works fine - so all good, or atleast, good enough.

The only problem I have now is, if I call, then call again before the "re-registration" period (thats the only thing I can think that's causing it), the calling phone rings, but the VOIP phone doesn't. I think it may be an issue with my firewall, tho. I think it drops the IP connection after I hang up, and doesn't bring it back up or something. I'm still learning how to config the firewall (Juniper Netscreen-25), so no surprise there :)

Still..... works nice otherwise!!

I have an issue with my Uniden DECT1805 phone, I can call to anybody and nobody can call me, it just doesn't ring.

Phoned customer support and they confirmed that from their side everything works fine. They asked me to change the phone and when I changed to other phones(I have another 3 ones) everything works fine.

Another thing, I want to upgrade a firmware, my is 3.1.9, but I can't, as its asking me for a password, which I don't know and have no idea where to get it.

Any help?

cheers

Some old phones need a ringing wire, but the dect is new enough that it should be fine.

I had problems with caller id off my ATA on italk. Eventually on a forum I found a hint about swapping the line polarity around, I crimped up an rj11 to rj11 lead the other way around and sure enough caller ID works fine now. The only way to get my old cordless to ring is to use a dsl filter (for its ringing capacitor only)

HI O1EG,

The issue appears to be your phone / RJ11 cable, probably your cable has only 2 wires in it, some phones require another wire (ringing) if you have one that has 4 wires try that with your Uniden DECT1805, as for the firmware 3.1.9 is fine . So just to confirm everything is okay apart from the Uniden 1805 Phone ?

Our Platform providers are looking at this I believe...not sure how far away it is at present...It's in the roadmap just not sure where.

Hi Nic,

2 Things just interested in the Cable with the Fax Machine -Pap2t 2 Wires or 4 ? it looks like it needs a ringing wire so try a 4 wire Rj11 cable if you have one, thats why you have dial tone and can go off hook but not recieve ringing probably.

Yep pretty sure its your net screen - all call logs show that the calls are delivered to you but most probably the Netscreen is not passing the Invite to your Papa2t untill it does a re registration and re estatblishes that connnection between the Netscreen and PAP2T, thats not a bad little Firewall you have there not your run of the Mill home firewall thats for sure Laughing

A restart will fix the G729 / G711 selection or it will update itself within the next 24 hours
