I'm also thinking of purchasing a second unit.

Can they both be set up on same account to share recordings?

Yes, on the same account for no extra charge other than the box cost with Freeview.

With Sky it's an additional $25/box to share all the Sky subscriptions on all boxes in addition to the recordings.

freitasm:

Catch-up is not on the device - you select from the grid up to three days before and you can watch any program on the grid again.

Are you sure you were not in the recording section (left), instead of looking at the grid (mid-section)?

Thanks for the suggestion @freitasm. No, the main menu is a part of the UI I think we have sussed!
Here is a random photo of a screen from yesterday (20 May). I'm guessing the programmes with a play icon are the ones available. NCIS didn't have a play icon. The App has different icons (from memory)

:-)

Yes, the play icon means it is available for up to 3 day catch up/rewind.  The mobile app now has the same icons.

POWER TIP for a better way to browse what's on 3 day catch up: while watching a live channel press the up or down d-pad arrow (not the channel up down) and then you'll see the "mini guide" which you can navigate using the d pad and use OK to select a show.  This view only includes shows in the past that are available to view on catch up.

Does VTV Gen 2 stream YouTube, and Netflix in 4K?

Thanks.

Yes, if you have a 4K TV and use the supplied HDMI, or other suitable high speed HDMI cable.

Over 95% of Gen 2 users will find their firmware has been upgraded and includes a number of improvements.

To check if you have the update go to settings->more settings->information to see your software (firmware) version.

Latest firmware is 5.1.5714.06jfv(nz).

Choose "Update" from the more settings menu if you haven't upgraded yet.

With this release the following issues are resolved:

1) visual fast-forward doesn’t go beyond the point where you restart or ff/rewind live content

2) visual fast-forward jumps to live content when reaching the restart point of live content

3) concurrency error when navigating between “menu” and “back” keys on the remote

4) black screen despite white light on VTV box

Please let us know if you still experience these issues.

Hi, I am having issues with the Neon App on the Gen2 box. The app forgets my sign in details every few weeks and I have to log in again. I am only having this issue with the Neon app. All others remember my login details.

@mclean: To record Hawaii Five-0 try this: Go to the most recent episode on the EPG grid. Press OK to start playing it. Then press OK again. You should be able to record the series from there.

Didn't work - Hawaii Five-O is not available for catch up, so no play icon when you this. Can find Hawaii Five-O on the app, and push it to the TV from there. Pushing OK at that point has no effect as far as I can tell.

Tried this too. Mixed success. It does work, and could be faster to go back to recent shows, but it seems to get back exactly 24 hours. Not 'previous day', certainly not 'three days'.

So many inconsistencies in this UI and app. (The UI app is more consistent on the app, but very slow to display show lists, even on our gigabittish Vodafone connection.)

Any chance of a Facebook app? That and DLNA are the main things we use the laptop for now. Facebook might loose appeal when https://www.facebook.com/nzballet/ stop streaming shows every weekend.
One other question - why does VTV not have a copy of Chrome? That would cover a world of options.

:-)

What have you got against the Ballet? .... or my family for that matter.
Facebook needs to be used with discretion. It is not my favourite platform either, but my family like it.

Same here, it happens every month on the day that the payment is taken. Possibly be a verification process.

For those who had to login again to NEON, what date did you notice this? (I have a theory) ;-)

I agree. Please don't add this app to VTV it is the most invasive app ever created and you will never be able to remove all of it... Just like on your ph.

Installed today for a friend's non-Sky household. Expected TV guide to broadly reflect Freeview channel listing but instead it's predominantly Sky channels not subscribed to.

So basically you're paying $149 for non-stop Sky advertising.

Was thinking of purchasing myself, but now...

Pass.
