Phoned customer support and they confirmed that from their side everything works fine. They asked me to change the phone and when I changed to other phones(I have another 3 ones) everything works fine.

) so will be interested to test this when I find one , Theory is correct though and probaly the cable being used is a BT to RJ11 ? not RJ 11 to RJ 11

Our Platform providers are looking at this I believe...not sure how far away it is at present...It's in the roadmap just not sure where.

Um, hows this for an idea: get the vodafone email->text thing, and set that as your notification number :) If I got enough voice mails, thats what I'd do ;-)

But, what would Chuck Norris do? Thats the real question

Another WorldxChange customer called my VFX number last night. I was intrigued to see his name displayed in the lower part of my Uniden phone's display. So that's what the second display is for! With any other caller it always shows their Caller ID, the same as the upper display.

Hi guys,

Thanks for your support. At this moment I don't care if one of my phones doesn't ring, all other phones are fine.

Is any way I can improve a quality of phone line? I tried all my phones and they have some kind of noise.

Another thing, I downloaded a user guide and found that REN is 3, not 5, as datasheet says. Where is truth?

My other questions:

1. Under web admin of PAP2T -> Line 1 -> Auto configuration -> it says: "Preferred Codec: G711u". As I can remember Phil sad that they use G729. My PAP2T has dropdown list with other codes and it has G729a as well. If I changed, will I have any advantage from it?

2. When somebody call me, the pause between rings is too long, how I can make it shorter?

The Line Quality should be fine, it should be just Normal Dial tone if there is any noise I would suspect the cable first, what type of noisy btw a hum ot static ?

Don't worry about the Codec, it is actually automatically selected depending on the number you dial

Phil, I've noticed the same thing with my PAP2 as well. It is producing a "US style" ring of one long cadence followed by an equally long silence. The calling phone hears almost 2 rings for every one ring produced by the PAP2.

It would be good if the PAP2 could be set to a NZ/UK style ring i.e. Burr Burr Pause Burr Burr, but I don't know if that's possible.

Arghhh Okay, I understand now....okay this is there for a specific reason to do with a couple of our services , I may be able to do something wih this later but not at the moment

2 Things just interested in the Cable with the Fax Machine -Pap2t2 Wires or 4 ? it looks like it needs a ringing wire so try a 4 wire Rj11 cable if you have one, thats why you have dial tone and can go off hook but not recieve ringing probably.

Yep pretty sure its your net screen - all call logs show that the calls are delivered to you but most probably the Netscreen is not passing the Invite to your Papa2t untill it does a re registration and re estatblishes that connnection between the Netscreen and PAP2T, thats not a bad little Firewall you have there not your run of the Mill home firewall thats for sure

A restart will fix the G729 / G711 selection or it will update itself within the next 24 hours

I think all mine are _2_ wire. I'm going to get some _4_ wire from DSE at lunch time :)

Oddly enough, it passes thru to the phone (PAP2t -> fax -> phone) just fine :)

And yes, the NS-25 isn't a normal piece of kit. It was literally laying around at work, so I grabbed it (with permissions, of course). We got a load of Cisco gear when we got bought, so it was surplus to requirements.....

Now, I have to workout how to make the damn thing WORK. :)

I had a problem with my cordless phone note ringing, tho if I new it was ringing I could pick up and answer a call. I got the ring waveform changed from "Sinusoid" to "Trapezoid" and this fixed it.

Callplus do not have the Number Ranges sorted in their switch, all WXC Numbers have been sent to all carriers weeks ago by the NAD who control all numbers for the Country. they are just slow activating them in their Network, I will have a workdirectly wit h them and see if we can them moved along.

Oh dear, I've just checked my iTalk bill and see that i've been charged 5c each time I've unsuccessfully called my VFX number. The bill says the calls were made to Greymouth (instead of Christchurch)!!

It's been a week now and iTalk have not rebated any of the fraudulent calls, though they have rebated $130 for equipment that I was billed for but had never requested or received. Maybe its time to cut my losses and just pay the final bill and say goodbye.

3. The 00 is the only one that concerns me here, most phones have the option to have the 0 or not not generally Phones should have this option as different Carriers will present differnt A Party Number Formats, we send the Numbers to all users with a 0 - NSN National Significant Number this is because when you use the call services 0 is required with you phone not being able to remove the 0 that it recives it becomes an issue, the same will happen when we present a international call to you with 00 your Phone will add a 0...so as I said this will cause me some concerns...let me think on it and I may have a cunning plan

Hopefully this can be sorted as it was probably the biggest inconvience for me.
I've checked through the manual for my 'Uniden DECT1825+1' phone and there definately is no option for not adding the zero, only an option for adding a prefix. I've checked all the menu options on the phone itself too. I'll email Uniden and see what they suggest.

The same phone on the iTalk service does not add 0's (although it does display the entire international code, eg 0064.)

The odd thing about it though is that (on VFX) an 03/09 etc number only have one 0 added, while 021 has two zeros added, eg 00021.

My main use for the phone's phonebook/recall feature will be for local/nz numbers. If it's possible to add a custom string to my dial plan I'd suggest something like: |<00:0>[3-9]xxxxxxx| If I'm not mistaken that will remove the additional 0 and it should not interfere if I tried to make an international call since more that 8 numbers would follow.

5. Voice Mail to EMail....why of course we can do this for you, you are getting Notifications only at present because you have set Notify up in your incoming Call setup. take a look under Messaging....you can choose to have a copy of the Voice Message here as well as having an option to press 0 at your Voice Mail message and get diverted to another line...all under your control. Their are actually a lot in the residential offerings so takes a while to find them all. Wait till we start giving the advanced options.

Took me a while to find the "E-mail a carbon copy of the voice message to" option. Originally I had set up the "Call Notify" option instead, thinking that was it. Turned out it was a very annoying option as it was filling my email box with notifications of every single call, not just new messages.

This feature is much better than iTalk's for the following reasons: :)
1) You can specify any email address, not just your pre-defined one. So I can get my messages at work, etc without having to log into my home email.
2) The message is not cleared from your Voice Portal once sent. iTalk's one removed it, so if I wasn't checking my email I'd not know that I had a message.
3) The attached WAV files are much smaller, but similar quality. (13 sec iTalk message WAV was 148kb, while a 14 sec VFX message WAV was only 58Kb).

Perhaps you could create more user guides with typical Q&A's in plain English. I'm a fairly technical person myself and getting confused, imagine how less technically-minded customers will cope.

6. *62 my Friend You can log into your Voice Mail and omit the PIN number as well this is an option as well, the 082210 we use is a special service code which you can program into Voice mail Key on a lot of phones, it also means you can dial that number from any Telecom network (apart from Vodafone at present...they are slow activating this number), what is also coming to a VFX portal near you you will also be able to intiate calls directly from it .

Here was another area I got confused... I went down the list saw *55 "Direct Voice Mail Transfer", tried it and got an error message, so I figured it wasn't working. I didn't get down the the far bottom to see *62. I guess *55 will be the code to initate calls directly withine the Voice portal as you mention? If not, what is it?

Again it would be useful to have *62 mentioned in the Voice Portal Guide PDF along with where to find the "Auto-login to Voice Portal when calling from my phone" option.

Another question about the "Send Busy Calls to Voice Mail" option. Does this intefere with call waiting? i.e. would you have to turn this option off to use call waiting, or is it only if you ignore the incoming call?

Phil, I hope you're keeping an accessible up-to-date Q&A database for your staff to refer and add to. Your bound to get the same little questions over and over as you have more customers sign up. For example, my inital problem with the VFX service was that it wouldn't provision. The other day we discovered that it was because the resync value (or something like that) on the provisioning page were set too high. I hope Nick provided this feedback to the team and doesn't keep it to himself.

All too often I see various customer service cases where customers ring up and get told one thing, or don't get a suitable answer, and then on forums like this you find others who have gone through the same problems, yet got good efficient solutions, simply because they happened to be lucky to get someone who was clued up.

Many thanks again. Things are now looking more like a permanent shift to VFX. :)

Amigo I have an update as promised I believe we have a Network Setup we can use to apply to Phones that have your issue (Adds a ) with no ability to stop it) I will be contacting you to discuss the change can you drop me a EMail with your contact Number please

I have signed up for this service and am currently awaiting for my upgraded router to arrive as I have got the WAG54GP2 and not (v2) dont really know what the difference is there maybe someone can explain.

The main Issue is when speaking to a CSR at world exchange they asked if I was currently using another VOIP provider which I am the conversation was that my device would be locked to their network however if I rang technical support they could have an option for me to be able to use both (possibly by using the 2nd phone port which is how it is setup now)

How true would this be assuming the settings under SIP tab were the same as I initally had issues here with the default settings (on the v1)

Is it possible to have access to the 2nd line tab or even possible to have more control over the device with the understanding of any changes which effect my xnet services are my problems and reloading the configeration file will set all my changes back to default xnetvfx settings

Just asking before I finally configure my device - maybe there is another config file that can be used which does not have password protection

I would also like to be able to change my dial string plan as well on the setup page to block dialing of certain numbers

I have actually already answered a lot of your concerns here #1kiwi , but I will rehash for you

1. This is very true we will open up the Second Sip line for you to use with another provider if thats your wish,

2. No it is not possible to have control over the Sip settings i'm afraid due to a number of reason's but if you read the thread you will see the explainations why.

3. The v2 Wag54gp2 is a completely different hardware revision to the V1 and as such has a completely different software line and the v2 is much better hardware product by default.

4. No Dial Plans access but we can block Digits strings in the MyVFX platform

Please have a read of the thread though it may explain things in more detail

Phil, I think the correct ring pattern for NZ is: 60(.4/.2,.4/2)
Is that different to the pattern setup under VFX? From your other comments it would seem you have specifically set it up differently, but would be good to have the ring pattern closer to normal. I find too that my phone ends up with an intermittent style ring.

The other thing that may be helpful for some handsets is setting the caller ID to ETSI FSK rather than Bellcore. This seems to send the caller ID string to phone in advance of 1st ring. Some handsets have built in customised ringing based on callers in the handset phone book. With caller ID set to Bellcore, the phone rings the default way, then part way through changes its ring style to that of the customised ring. When set to ETSI FSK, it seems to ring straight away on the correct customised ring style.

we are actually doing some work right at this moment with Ringtones to supply exactly that, but you are pre empting the release :) , We had to use this other pattern for a couple of specific reasons but due to a couple of concerns here I have been working to rush through the changes :), not ready right now but I expect to have them with in the week....There is only so many Hours in the Day i'm afraid and I'm working the Guys pretty hard :),

Also ETSI FSK has a couple of issues so this will not be used at present
