WAF update: Most of her web sites are in .us, that she likes to visit and read. I have now been asked if the weekend is now simply a write off for her? My response was simply - yes.

I'm a bit puzzled that there's no QoS in the network to ensure that light http traffic gets though.

Also a bit strange that Reach hasn't sorted out capacity to reduce the packet loss. Level3 also don't seen be to doing anything about improving packet loss.

?

That's what I thought but I fired up a few torrents just to check and I was able to get 1.6MBs total download speed.

But then online streaming like Netflix and Hulu are pretty much unwatchable.

But I can watch TV3 okay online.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

My VPN to the US usually operates at better than 10Mbps. It's 1-4Mbps so far today.

I think more important than "how fast is my speedtest" (where people are using different servers and we have no idea of how it was before), an interesting measure is this:

Note in my previous post the time was to be about 5 hours. Now it's up to ten hours. Also note there number of errors. I never had this before. The server is in Auckland, my connection is in Wellington.

My connection is pretty spotty. Even though the initial test with the new modem shows about 50 - 60 Mbps down, 10 Mbps up, I am getting some timeouts, in special when it comes to international sites.

Speeds are fine locally

internationally to Sydney not so good

Then wellington is the worst

Maybe there are so many cable users in wellington doing speed tests, skewing the results, although its probably quite abit slower i don't think the speedtest.net servers can be reliable when so many people are testing to them at the same time

Fak this seriously, I download more on a normal day with limits than without.

The net is so incredibly slow, except for Youtube, download wise 120kbps is just painful, haven't been able to download crap all even though It's being going since the event started.

Probably every other arse gets the priority. >_>"

Speeds are pretty dreadful here.

I also have a connection at the office with ICONZ, *BUT* the wholesaler of the data to ICONZ is Telstra (at least it is for our ICONZ connection)

Poor people on ICONZ might be wondering what the heck is going on?

My NewzBin avg donwload speed has drop to 8.4Mbps, which means, in theory, I am likely to get triple my current monthly 90GB data allowance worth:-

B/hr: 3.78 GB/h

B/day: 90.72 GB/d

B/month: 2.72 TB/m
http://web.forret.com/tools/bandwidth.asp?speed=8.4&unit=Mbps

Does anybody get more than 2TB per month on the AYCE packages out there?

lol... good luck with that.  Can they advertise the idea on national TV and the net for a week before hand and then just pull the plug less than 24 hours in?

You need to think that through a little more. You can't cancel a free offer with no notice. If someone set things up then went away for the weekend they could come back to a bill of hundreds of dollars.
