Is The Warehouse still selling these new Vodafone TV boxes? I cannot find it at all on their website.

Thanks, I suppose it's a bit much to expect, but having the Spark Sport App could have been a deal clincher for buying a Vodafone TV rather than buying a second Apple TV. 

This article mentioned it, but I thought that now the Rugby World Cup has arrived, Vodafone might have recently included Spark Sport as a means of boosting sales.

ATV can stream Freeview and other channels via appropriate IPTV app and an m3u8 playlist. Power of VTV is as an IPTV solution for Sky, this it does very well.

I don’t have either of them but very interested in getting VTV. My understanding is that VTV will stream live FTA TV like TV1, TV2, Three, etc - but ATV doesn’t do that.

Thanks, you can stream some live free to air TV on Apple TV through the "on demand" apps, such as TV1 and TV3. But I don't think you can live stream Prime TV.

Apple TV has a very good movie section where you can hire / buy quite a few recent movies. Also, Apple TV has Apple Music, which is rated highly and is up there with Spotify.

I like the idea of Vodafone TV allowing SKY subscribers to live stream some NZ SKY content, which of course, you can't do with Apple TV. Could this feature mean you no longer need a second SKY box?

Aha - thanks. But surely ATV’s ‘on demand’ is not the same as VTV’s ‘live’ FTA IPTV streaming. Two different things?

Agree, but its real power is the ability to watch everything on catch up mode and skip the ads. That's been the game changer for me, getting half my watching life back.  Like the whole of TVNZ 1 news in 20 mins.

Sounds good. We have a SKY subscription and record the news etc and just fast forward through the ads and stuff we don't want to watch. And there is no time limit to how long you can leave your recorded content on a SKY box, which is a very good feature, particularly for series etc that you don't have time to watch straight away.

I bought a VF TV box from the VF website last week.

So far I am just using it for free-to-air, replay TV, and Netflix - with no problems.

Today I was cold called by a VF rep asking whether I had any problems with the new box, and offering assistance if needed.

Good after-sales service from VF.   🙂

It's actually up to three days, not hours..  If the channel/programme allows it.

Interesting, I have a mysky+ and mysky (multiroom) where I paid for the full price early on years ago ($500), so no monthly fee for both, only the $25 charge.

Will 2 Vodafone tv boxes allow 1 account login with the Sky App, and seperate channels on both, in the same household?

Are the Discovery, History, Nat Geo channels in HD and not potato quality (SD)?

I saw references to 4K, which channels (inc SKY) are in 4K? or is the box simply upscaling to 4K?  or is there no 4K at all and I mis interpreted?

On VTV there are two kind of apps:

 

• Native apps built into the firmware itself. For example Netflix
• HTML5 apps, like Lightbox and TVNZ On Demand.

Most apps are HTML5 apps, as they are much easier and quicker to develop. In essence, the set-top box runs a browser that all HTML5 apps run in.

 

In other words, the apps are not ported Android apps. We currently do not have an app store. The apps are curated and deployed by Vodafone.

 

So an international giant like Netflix spent the time and effort creating a native app for Vodafone TV? I assume this app could be used on Vodafone TV in other countries? (I'm just wondering about what makes their effort worthwhile)

Is there any timeframe for retiring the T-Box and upgrading remaining customers to Vodafone TV? My parents are still on it, along with Sky Basic and Unlimited 100/10 HFC via Cisco modem. From what i can tell looking at the Vodafone website, the internet could be upgraded to the HFC 200 and Sky Starter+Entertainment for a similar price.
